Unless you're doing out patient, you'll be ready for full liquids when you go home. If you're out patient, I recommend broth, sugar-free Jell-O, DILUTED fruit juices (I still struggle with those), unsweetened (decaf) tea, decaf coffee, and nothing carbonated.

Go get slim fast shakes. They are incredibly delicious and have all the vitamins and proteins. In additions, smoothies are real good.

I have to disagree with ^^^^ about getting slim fast shakes. They are HIGH in not only sugar, but in carbs with not a very high amount of protein. If you are looking for some ready made shakes try Premier Protein Shakes you can get at Sams Club or Walmart. Here is the nutritional info for that: Nutrition Facts: Calories 160 Total Fat 3 g Cholesterol 25 mg, Sodium 340 mg, Potassium 500 mg Total Carbohydrate 5g Protein 30 g

MUCH higher in protein and low in carbs and that protein will really help you heal!

I would get broths, crystal light packets, sugar free jello.

Post surgery, sugar free ice pops were my best friend!! I drank a lot of broth too. I couldn't do the shakes after surgery.

They gave me Italian Icee's in the hospital. I bought some on the way home. They do have some natural sugars in them, but they did not upset my new tiny tummy. They tasted great and they got me through week one of all liquids.

slim shakes, atkins, shakes or so bad my Doc said. tons of choices out there but read and read the stuff they are made of check out the carbs and the protein
