Default At what point post-op could YOU eat a salad? Or lettuce in general? Missing my green salads with chicken!

I know everyone is different but I'm looking for people to share at what point post-op they could successfully eat salad? I am missing my salad so much, I'm craving them! At my last Dr. apt I was basically told that I was welcome to try whatever whenever I felt ready (protein most important/ make healthy choices) but that most people have the most problems with doughy fresh doughy breads and raw/rough veggies for a while so be careful with those things. I have tried all sorts of food with no problems, but I am holding off on the salad (and the fresh bread but that's just carbs anyway so I don't care about that right now) until I just can't stand it anymore. I am just over 5 weeks post-op and can't wait to have a salad with grilled chicken! Please let me know when this (in small quantities of course) went down and stayed there for you. Thanks!

P.S. I am also craving chocolate, but not as much as that darn salad!

I am also 5 weeks out and this week I am allowed to try salad. The main thing I've had to remember is to take small bites and chew thoroughly.

I am 9 weeks out and we are told salad at 4 months. It's crazy how different the doctors advice is.

As you mentioned everyone is different. So if you have the go ahead to try it from your Dr. my suggestion is to get a salad and try it. If your sleeve is ready for it it will tell you. If you aren't ready it will tell you that as well.

As for chocolate the dark chocolate with high percentages of cocoa is actually moderately healthier for you than the sugar filled milk variety so when you feel the need for a choco fix be sure to feed that craving. I may be against others on here but I don't believe in avoiding all cravings at all cost just feeding them moderately.

Chocolate ? Who doesn't love chocolate ? A couple of my sleeve buddies have said the Atkins peanut butter cups are delicious. I have not tried them because I don't want to get hooked on them.

I'm 3 months out & have eaten a few small salads with no problem. Actually, everything I've tried goes down just fine. Haven't tried any super crunchy stuff so far except for slivers of carrots & apples. Just start very small & see how you feel.

Im at almost 3 months and just a few weeks ago I was able to start eat chicken burrito bowls...I can only get thru 1/4 at a time so just end up eating a little lettus but it goes down alright...

As for chocolate...LOVE LOVE LOVE dark chocolate now...dont knock it til you try it. My favorite is 85% dark I hated it before the sleeve...it was to bitter. Now I love the flavor...and it really takes the edge off when I NEED chocolate.

At 3 months out I just had to start having salads, missed them so much! Now when I'm home for lunch I always have dark green lettuce (not a lot, a little handful) and I heat up 3 oz. of Tyson's pre-cooked chicken strips in a skillet. Add to salad, then I add a little crumbled blue cheese and a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Oh my gosh - I love it so much!!! Some days I go "wild" and add 5-6 croutons (only 6 carbs I think). I'm in heaven.

Everybody is different. So give it a try when you can eat solid food. Make sure you chew it well. Chew 22. Good luck.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Looks like I have some more time to wait before I try a salad. Dark chocolate on the other hand... come to mama! I go out to lunch with co-workers all the time and I used to order a salad with chicken regularly. Just miss it so much! Luckily I have found many other healthy choices that fit the plan and allow me to be out and enjoying the socialization.

Well I finally tried salad and it was great! I am 2 months post-op and psyched to eat salad w/ chicken! Like everything else I try, it went down just fine. I also got the ghirardelli 72% cacao squares and one of those little guys seems to do the trick for taking care of the chocolate craving. Thanks for all the advice everyone!
