Default # of calories a day

I am struggling to find the right amount of calories for me to be eating. I have been averaging 1000-1200 a day since my surgery, however I went through a week without losing anything. I increased to 1400 calories and dropped 3 lbs. Will I need to keep increaing calories or will I be able to go back to 1000-1200 and lose. I workout about 1.5 hours 4-5 days a week. Any help would be appreciated

My instruction book from my doctor said 600-800 per day in weightloss period. 1000-1200 a day in maintenance. And never more than 50-75g of carbs a day.

I am not sure exactly how to answer this but I will share this...I have been seeing a lot of posts where people say they keep their calories between 800-900...so I am not sure what the guidelines are....its hard because our bodies are all so different. are you scheduled to see your dietician soon? or maybe you could give them a call? I have heard that some diets do a "cheat day" where you increase your calorie intake to sort of shock your metabolism...but I have NO idea if there is any credibility to that or not...Its in quite a few weight loss books so maybe it really does work? Im just throwing these things out there...I would definitely call the dietician. Best of Luck to you!

Could someone show me what a sample meal plan looks like for 600-800 calories? I used myfitnesspal so I could start planning my meals for when I go back to work but the calories were very high....

Also download the Atkins App on your smartphone. Tons of recipes in there, for each Phase of a Low Carb diet. I love it and cannot wait to start using it in 4 weeks!

For me personally I was about 500-600 calories if I was lucky at the end of my second month and it gradually increased to about 800 for a round about number for a while. I am currently a few weeks short of a year and am between probably 1200-1300 calories a day. I don't keep strict count any more and write everything down like I did the first 6 or 7 months.
Once in a while I'll keep a record of a day, here and there just to keep myself in check. Anyhow, I think perhaps you might be consuming too many calories at this point, but again, each person and body is different.
You might want to try to drop your calories a bit, and vary them from day to day so your body keeps "guessing" and you don't go into starvation mode. Then it will just stop dropping the pounds and hold on for a while. Again, stalls come and go too...so be prepared.
The bottom line I would advise you...stay the course...follow the doctors orders and nutritionist orders if they gave you any guidelines. Vary the calories but keep the proteins high and fluids going too.
Wishing you all the best and see you one day soon at your personal finish line.

I typically am around 600-800 calories a day. Today was high at 783 but I also got in 73g of protein (all from foods no powders). Menu today was:

Breakfast (8a) - soft boiled egg, (10:30a) - Dannon light n fit Greek yogurt (blueberry)
Lunch (12:30p) - chicken salad and 4 triscuit crackers (rosemary and olive oil...yes it's a carb but 2g protein and I wanted the crunch)
    Mid afternoon (2:00p) - Gatorade 2 - fruit punch
Dinner (6:00p) - turkey/93% fat free beef meatballs - 2 and 1/2 soft boiled egg
Evening drink (8:30p) - fat free skim milk - 8oz

Also have water in between meals to keep hydration. Hope this helps.

I use myfitnesspal also, feel free to search for me. I generally eat about 800-950 calories a day. I've eaten over a 1,000 maybe 3 or 4 times since september. I was in the 750 calorie range until about 2 weeks ago. That being said, my nutritionist tells me it is far more important to get my 60g of protein a day and never eat anything over 5g of sugar, than worry about calories. Every surgeon team is different, so just do what seems right for you!!
