Thanks!!
This is a question I'm not quite ready to approach for myself, but am interested in the responses. I still have about 60 more to lose. But wanted to say AWESOME job!! Congrats!!

I have NO IDEA how many calories I eat in a day. What I do is weigh myself once a week and if I fall below where I want to stay, I up my carbs. But, I must say, I eat A LOT of carbs on a daily basis regardless. They use to make me fat, now they keep me where I want to be. I have never counted anything, so I am not a good one to give advice on that subject.
I saw on another post it was 1200-1300 but that seems pretty low to me. You can hit up a search engine and research base metabolic rate. This will result in some calculations on daily caloric needs. It will vary person to person based on lean body mass, age, weight and activity level. Personally, I'd think it would be closer to 1700 calories for most women.
Actually, my fitnesspal can probably provide it for you because one of the selections you can choose is to maintain and it will calculate daily targets for you.
Congrats!
Now that you have lost all the weight you can change your avatar/profile..lol While the puppy is cute showing off your success is MUCH better!
My best advice is consult your surgeon/dietician...they know your body best...not us here on the forum

ONEDERLAND: 12/10/12: 198

Reached goal weight of 160 pounds on 9/9/13 (1 year, 1 month, and 1 day post-op)
My surgeon just said that if you want to slow your weight loss down/maintain you start eating more calorie dense foods. That might be more carbs, but it could also be more good fats (still want to aim for good health). So more nuts, olive oil dressing/cooking, oily fish, going to semi-skimmed milk rather than skim milk etc. That way you don't need to eat more food, just the same volume of food with more calories in it. The amount that each person will need to maintain in terms of absolute calories will differ between individuals.
I eat on average 1200-1300 calories a day and I maintain at that and it's enough food if I eat the right food.
A sample menu for a day;
Costco ancient grains hot cereal with a 1/4 cup of frozen berries - approx 300 calories
Snack - Atkins protein bar - 150 cal
Lunch - deli ham or turkey and shredded cheese on spring mix greens w/ ranch - approx 300 cal
Snack - Danone silhouette Greek yogurt - 50 cal
Dinner - 5-6oz chicken or beef, veggie and a few bites of a starch - 350 cal
Snack - plain Greek yogurt with some frozen berries and a little Splenda - 150 cal
That's not to say I don't splurge now and then. In fact I've gotten a little off track and I'm up about 4 lbs. like Christi I don't generally count calories or protein or carbs anymore. That doesn't mean I ignore them, but I pretty much know if I'm making a bad choice or not. If I do, then I need to adjust the next day etc.
This is what works for me. Some people can eat much more and maintain. I don't do a lot of exercise because of some surgery I had a few months ago and foot pain. I also just lost my job 2.5 weeks ago so I have been much more sedentary and I can tell the difference on the scale so I need to adjust for that. Everyone is individual, both in their metabolism and exercise level, the important thing is to listen to your body. It will tell you either by hunger or weight gain.
I can tell you that my eating feels very normal compared to what it was the first year. Somedays too normal lol. I don't feel deprived, I allow for the occasional treat, I just always try to keep how far I've come in mind. I fought for this size, I've never been here before in my life and I like it. So for me fitting into my size 4 skinny jeans, my first ever little black dress, etc. is the motivation to keep me on track, or back on track when I slip.
Hope this works, this is what keeps me going. My first EVER little black dress. Only took me 46+ years to get here. The hell I'm screwing this up for some donuts and chips lol.

There isn't a part of my body I didn't notice weight loss in, including my calves.
I historically never lost weight In My boobs, this time I did. My feet, my forearms, my fingers, etc etc. I'm apple shaped, so it seemed like it took forever to get my stomach area to lose weight but when it finally started happening it was nice. Something that I'm still not used to, how much even 5-10 lbs makes a difference when your this weight. Before I could lose 50 Kbps and barely notice, now if I lose 5 you can tell right away.
Congrat Joelle..
Britiajon, you now have a body of a 20 years old. Well worth the wait. Congrats.
