Just got sleeved 9/16

Hello Everyone,
I am new to the site but have been reading for awhile prior to my surgery. I was sleeved on 9/16th and feeling better. I had a cramping sensation with water. Seems to be better today as I am advanced to full liquids. I made myself a protein shake which I know will help my energy levels. I could sleep all of the time. I am not sure if I can start my multi-vitamin yet. Has anyone started this soon after surgery? My post op check up is today and I will ask doctor.

Thank you! I guess I did not introduce myself thoroughly either. I am 33 years old and live in Louisiana. I had a couple of friends who had the sleeve with great success! It is nice to get support here as well since it is easily accessed everywhere.

I would continue vitamins. But you can ask your doctor. I'm a 10 yr. bandster who will be converting to sleeve on 9/29. I do know for the most part when you first have bariatric surgery and the stomach is raw and swollen for the first 1-3 months you're not intaking the amount of food and nutrients you will be when your stomach completely heals and you're able to push more solids down so yes I would definately do vitamins. You can use a pill crusher put the crushed tab in a teaspoon of water or you can go to the health food store and do liquid vitamins till you heal. If you aren't getting the proper vitamins and nutrients from your food you will be tired and sleepy. I was one of the original bandsters. I was on the bandster forum 10 yrs. ago and we had a registered nurse as our administrator. I was taught by her.

Another suggestion is you can also use chewables. I myself hate the taste of adult vitamins. Even the liquid. The children's liquid vitamins are very tasty. Often fruit flavored. Read the back and see if they give instructions for adults. Often they do. I must confess. I take children's vitamins and follow the instructions for 12 or older. LOL!!!

Thanks for the info! I do have the adult chewable multivitamin and that went down fine. I split my B12 pill and that was ok too. I found out the pain I have been having when I have fluids is a spasm of the stomach that sometimes will happen after the sleeve. He said it is temporary and he prescribed me a medication to take for the next 2 weeks so hopefully that will resolve soon. It was like a cramping everytime I swallowed.

I started a multi vitamin the day after surgery, dissolved in water took ages to get it all down!! Am swallowing all pills nows.
Sleep I can identify with you there, I'm 5 weeks post op and am tired all the time, I work full time and come home exhausted, on my days off I always have a little nap in the afternoon just to catch up and replinish. I think it should all get better furthur down the track.
