    Default Catheter?

Just wondering if during the op you have a catheter or not? What are peoples general experience of them? I'm quite keen NOT to have one if I can help it.

I had one. Didn't get it until I was completely under.
I was so loaded on morphine after recovery that they left it for a few hours. I was still under "pain management" when they removed it and felt nothing! Kinda glad they did because there was no way I could have walked that soon after surgery to the bathroom

I had one and thought it helped, I've never had one and was quite weirder out by it felt to a degree though it was unnecessary... The thing that is bothering me tonight is the drain that they put in it's the grossest thing ever I'll have it in a week.. When it pulls I feel quite nauseated... I had my surgery on Monday...

No catheter for me. My surgeon said that because the surgery is so quick there is really no need for a catheter. I was up and walking around within 2 hours so was just able to go to the washroom.

If I had one, they put it in and took it out during surgery/recovery. I was told by a nurse that I would have one, but I don't think I did. And I am great with that.

I completely forgot about the drain!!!! Grossed me out more than anything I've ever experienced! That being said, hopefully you too will forget about it. That is until someone brings it up!

I'm a pre-sleever, so I'm not sure about a cath for this surgery, but I did have one when I had TMJ surgery. My TMJ surgery was 6 hours long, so they really had no choice but to put one in. They put it in after they put me under and took it out before they woke me up. But no one told me about it before hand! I remember my very first thought when I woke up in recovery was, "Where the hell is my underwear?!" If they hadn't told me though, I never would have known. I didn't have any soreness or anything.

I was cathetered for both of my c sections and my sleeve. It doesn't hurt at all. You can feel it when they pull it out, but not when they put it in--No more concern than having a tube put into your throat.

I had one and they put it in while I was under. It stayed in for 3 days and didn't hurt to have it removed - just a touch uncomfortable. It's kind of weird though but I'm glad it was in.
