Ugly ugly ugly person, no matter what weight she is. I actually fully understand that some people say they will not have surgery because they feel it is their own battle to fight, and they feel surgery is too invasive etc. But it's none of their business what I think is the right answer for me. Sad thing is this woman will probably put all her weight back on, and then some, and then because of her current stance, find it hard to come to a decision for her health.

For me losing weight isn't about proving that I'm virtuous or otherwise, it's just a pragmatic health-related decision.

This is the comment I posted:
Sooooooo, if a Drug addict or an Alcoholic had the option to have some part of their brain removed so that they woud stop drugging or drinking, you would be opposed to that, too? Of course it is a lifestyle change that is needed...not ALL WLS patients regain their weight back - in fact, way less gain their weight back than those of you who "do it the 'right' way". Like everything else, you only hear about those who regain the weight back and not those who are successful. I give anyone who can lose 100 pounds whether it is "the right way" or through WLS a lot of credit and would never SNUB MY NOSE at any of them as you seem to be doing. Get off your high horse. Your chances of gaining all your weight back and more are far greater than any WLS patient and one day you may be "EATING" your words.
Just had to add my 2 cents...lol.

[QUOTE=pack89;271907]She sounds like a total bitch to me. She's one to check on in a year after she's put back on that 100# plus another 30!! As someone put on here a while back...does she take a car to work or does she walk? If she drives, she's taking the easy way out! I see she has glasses on, well, why doesn't she just get closer to see? Why does she need glasses? She wears make-up, probably colors her hair, and who knows what else. People can be assholes all they want, but until they REALLY, and I mean REALLY practice what they preach, they just need to shut the HELL up! These are the people that it's not even worth my time to argue with. They are so narrow minded they can't see reason. I thought of a million things I could say to her, but she's not worth the effort. I would rather surround myself with positive, supporting people. Good luck and carry on!! [/. Some things aren't even worth my response!!! Like Peggy said!!!!! Positivity, support, information!!!! God Bless all of our doctors that are/have helped us change our life!!! God Bless us!!

I had to laugh out loud at the sheer ignorance of this woman. WOW! She is so incredibly self-righteous and IMHO a little jealous of those of us that have had the courage to stand up for our lives and our health by making the very difficult decision to have WLS. It has been 2 months since my surgery and I know I am preaching to the choir when I say, "It has NOT been easy!" Until this woman goes through what we have been through, she will never understand that this is not the easy way out. It's unfortunate, but she will probably be like the rest of us before WLS and just gain all that weight back. She seems like a very sad little person. Pity.

I think SHE is taking the "easy way out" by staying fat. There is nothing easy about WLS. It is a decision that changes your life FOREVER. It's a huge feat to take on, but the best decision I ever made. I was headed for serious obesity until I had WLS. I was headed right to where my whole family is. I did something about it before I had a serious problem.

She is absolutely entitled to her opinion about WLS. I am also entitled to disagree and think she's a complete moron for it.

Lee, you're hilarious. This has to be my favourite comment.
Melissa's post was less of a blog and more of a soapbox. I left her a message - couple actually, not a fun exchange. She is undoubtedly fairly bigoted when it comes to this subject and I can only imagine she is currently dieting and not enjoying it too much......

Truthfully, while I give kudos to everyone who posted a comment trying to shed some light on this clearly horribly narrow-minded person, I personally do not comment nor debate with people who are that deeply entrenched in their views as this blogger is since I doubt they will change their minds anyway. Listening to them explain their reasoning or rebut my comments would only serve to infuriate me further. In fact, I avoid debating at all costs. It's better for my mental health that way

Some people decide to stay in abusive relationships because they feel it is Gods wish for them to help the abuser, sorry, I'm for dumping the a-hole. Dumped my stomach and it is the best thing in the world, I'm a happier and healthier person for it.
