Skip this if you don't like garlic.
I find myself wanting something sweet for dessert. No I still haven't managed to remove my sweet tooth, but I'm trying really hard to avoid "real" candy.
We bake dinners a lot, so I started using the free space in the oven to roast garlic cloves while whatever is cooking. It's awesome! Every night this week I've had about 5 cloves of oven roasted garlic at the end of my meal as a sort of "closer" and I don't crave desserts at all!
- Peel and trim 4-6 cloves
- Place in an oven proof dish
- Toss with some olive or canola oil (I just spritz from a can)
- Sprinkle a touch of kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
- Bake in a 375 oven (or hotter, but you have to watch it for burning) for about 15 minutes, giving the dish a shake once or twice.
Here's a before and after baking photo.

Notice the very slight browning in spots of the garlic. That's "done". They are molten hot inside, be careful when you pop one in your kisser. The inside turn all soft and mushy while the outside is firm. The acrid garlicy flavor mellows while cooking greatly and they just taste sweet and funky!
Do not overcook as NOTHING tastes as bad as burned garlic.
Eat while warm. It's fantastic and simple and good for you.
(No I do not reek of garlic, she'd kick me out of bed at night.)
