Great Hospital in Mexico?

I'm trying to do some searching around for someone else. I had my sleeve surgery done in Tijuana by Dr. Almanza. Even though my surgery went well and I have had success so far, I don't think I'd recommend this place. A good friend of mine is looking for a place and a surgeon to do the same procedure. This place needs to have certain criteria.

1. a real hospital with full services including other speicalists in case things go wrong. Such as ICU, bloodbank, Xrays, etc.
2. good care
3. staff that speak english
4. recovery at least two nights in hospital
5. at least 3-4 nights recovery altogether
6. of course a surgeon who has a good track record

If anyone could help me out with this that would be great! I told my friend I would help and now I feel I want to do a good job. I don't want her thinking "OMG where has she taken me?" That's how I felt at Almanza's clinic. Could anyone recommend a place that would meet these criteria, could you give me the name of the surgeon, clinic name and approx cost?

I had mine down at the Mi hospital with Dr. Kelly. It fits all your frinds request. I went through the Tijuana Mexico Bariatric Center and dealt with Christy, you will be in great hands

If you could wait till March 20th I am going to go and see Dr Garcia. My wife went to Almanza and has had great results. But I feel like you do just not willing to recommend it. I would be in a position to give you an objective view once I have been down there because I will have seen both. If you can't wait that long, I understand. Good luck in whatever decision you make.

Hospital Mi Doctor is a real hospital...not a clinic.... Mexico Bariatric Center was excellent....Christy is amazing. Dr. Lopez was my surgeon but I've heard Dr. Cabrerra is really good too...

Sounds like Dr. Aceves would fit all the criteria too. He is in Mexicali, Mx but you still fly into San Diego.

You might want to look at Dr. Sergio Quinones. He only does 4 surgeries a day. They are performed in a private hospital. You spend 2 night at the hospital and 1 night in a hotel. Dr Quinones is a borad board certified surgeon. He speaks fluent english. He is Proctor Certified (Surgical Proctor Teacher). License and authorize surgeon for "Hospital Angeles" (Angels Hospital Baja). You also deal directly with Dr. Quinones staff in Tijuana and if you like can speak with Dr. Quinones before having surgery. You also can bring someone with you and it's included in the $4500.00 (Your companion must pay for their food but they stay in your room at the hospital the two nights your there and one night at the hotel). I was sleeved with Dr Quinones 7 weeks ago and I have had no issues post-op. I am sure Dr Almanza is a good doctor but I didn't feel he was right for me. Good luck in your journey.

I had been researching Tijuana and have decided to also go with Fernando Garcia through ready4achange on the 29th of march. You stay 2 nights at hospital and 2 nights at hotel(Marriott). He has good reviews as well as dr Lopez and Cabrera/Valenzuela.

I was supposed to go with Ready4achange, but the lady did not call me back. Does anyone know if the deposit is refundable, because now I'm very nervous about Dr Almanza and the clinic he uses. I thought that it was a hospital....OMG!

The deposit is refundable from Weight loss agents. But be prepared they will try to keep you there. They don't like to give the money back.
I got mine back and went with Dr Garcia. But I had to be persistent. Talk to Heather she seems to get things done

I called and let them know that I had a financial hardship. They told me that I would see the refund in my account in two days and it was there! They did want to keep me there but I told them no and I appreciate their assistance so much. I have scheduled my surgery with Dr. Garcia and March 19th I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! Alma has been helping me along the way and she is wonderful. I have SO much peace since I made the change! #abetterme

Dr. Sergio Quinones does the surgeries in a hospital "Santa Fe" not in a clinic take a look at the website....good luck

I had vertical sleeve gastrectomy in Tijuana at MI hospital with Drs. Cabrera and Valenzuela. Dr Garcia assisted. I used MexicoBariatricCenter to schedule my proceedure. I do not remember the anesthesiologists name, but I liked him a lot. The radiology department is on site, there is an ICU although it was not in use while I was there, all the staff spoke very good English, a medical doctor saw me every day and was at the hospital all night. I spent two nights in the hospital post op, and two nights at the Tijuana Marriott after I was discharged. I think the quality of care was excellent. The hospital seemed clean and well equiped. All my questions were answered completely before the proceedure. Drs. Cabrera and Valenzuela advertise that they have done over 2000 bariatric proceedures. By comparison, my sister's US surgeon had only done around 200 proceedures when my sister had her proceedure. My cost exclusive of my flight to San Diego was $4500.

I had my surgery on 4/26 with Dr. Ramos Kelly. He speaks English, his coordinator does as well. The nurses in the Oasis Hospital speak medical english but there is always at least one person there who speaks english. Go through his office to schedule. The Oasis is a world-renown cancer treatment center, cardiac center and has an emergency room and ICU. He is an excellent surgeon, his price includes 2 nights in hospital, 2 nights in hotel and transportation to and from airport (and possible shopping/sight seeing trips before you leave). I have recommended him to my family and friends and I plan to go back to him to do my hernia repair (which I could easily get covered by insurance here). He also has rights at Angeles Hospital which requires all their employees to speak english. It is an incredible state-of-the-art beautiful hospital. It costs more schedule there but may be worth it depending on your comfort level.

Thanks for all your info. My sister went to Dr Lopez in Puerto Vallarta. What a great experience! A completely different world than the clinic with dr Almanza. I'm soooo glad she went here. Amazing care
