Ever since surgery I've had the worst breath. My tongue feels coated and I'm constantly using a tongue scraper and brushing my teeth. Is this from lack of liquid, food, etc...? It's so gross & embarassing. When does this go away?
I'd say ketosis too. Does it kinda taste like you've been sucking on copper pennies? I hit ketosis a few days ago and its the nastiest thing. I hate keto-breath!

Keto-breath, which in short means your breath will smell, while on this diet happens due to you breathing out ketones. You'll also get a sort of metallic taste in your mouth. Almost everyone on a low carb diet will get the bad breath, metallic taste in the mouth and feel fatigued, but not everyone, and it usually doesn't last past the first couple of weeks if you stay in ketosis the entire time. Ketostix can be purchased that measure your ketones in your urine to tell you if you're still in fat burning ketosis.

If a person has a good diet Ketosis is not the answer at all times. It could be because of other factors. I've known people to have their gallbladder removed and their breath is always very ruminent or however you spell it Some say that the bad breath passes over time. The gall bladder is a filter, so I wonder if once it's removed you have that filter that also fltered bad breath from reaching your lungs. As for brushing your tongue, that's always a good idea. But don't just brush the front of it. Brush it in the very far back. You'll gag at first for a while, but you get used to it. That's where the worst stink glands hide out. Also brush the roof of your mouth. You'll cough because it tickles. It's always the best and cleanest to do this while you're taking a shower too.
