It's a toss up for me. Sometimes I feel a little hungry, and then other times, not at all. I try to keep myself on a schedule though. It's the only way I seem to stay on top of getting in all my protein. So I eat 3 times a day. Usually it's 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, 2 x's a day and an egg for supper. I find if I eat that, I'm never really hungry.
I think everyone is different. It depends on you, the size of your new tummy, if you're still swollen, and what you're eating. Give it time.... It's all trial and error!

Misty, when I was in the place that you are currently in I wasn't very hungry but I kept myself on a regular protein schedule. The past few days however are another story, food is everywhere and I have allowed myself some holiday sweets -- when I eat them I crave more, but if I choose protein I feel better and don't get hungry as fast. You are going to find your sweet spot (no pun intended) but it does take time! Try to find proteins that you like and that make you feel satisfied eat those often! You may be having lots of head hunger -- don't watch tv (there are so many food ads and subliminal food suggestions), get moving, read a book, find something that you like to do to keep your hands and mind busy. Best wishes.
You are hungry because you are not eating food. At twenty days out, you should be eating a soft diet. Forget that PUREED stage. That lasted about ONE HOUR for me...yuk! You can't live on protein shakes. There are many things you can eat at your stage. Just take it slow and don't try to eat too much. You will find, the sooner you start eating real food, the less hungry you will be and the more weight you will lose. Your body has to have something to metabolize.
Yogurt, cottage cheese, pudding, scrambled eggs, egg drop soup, mashed potatoes, real refried beans from a Mexican restaurant, Wendy's chili, watermelon, any kind of fruit smoothie either home made or from Tropical Smoothie Cafe or Smoothie King...tell them to HOLD the sugar, add WHEY...YUMMY! Just try different things...you WILL waste a lot of food and maybe money, but so what? You are worth it. Think about how much money you use to spend on eating out before! GOOD LUCK!!! All of us old timers are here for you! PM me anytime if you want! ~Christy
You know I think you may be right. Seems like when I see it I remember how good it was and I want it !! But like you said I am sticking to my shakes since that's the sweetest thing I can have and they make me feel more energized. Thanks and merry Christmas!!
!
Thanks Christy for your insight... I'm only 2 days ahead of Misty and am very much learning my limits. I truly don't like too much of th pureed foods either. I do love cottage cheese, eggs and yogurt... so I'm happy with that. Also adding soups to change it up. But I'm with you, I pureed chili one night, and BLAH, the texture was gross!! LOL Anyway, I appreciate learning from all of you!

I am 2 weeks out and have had trepidation about eating an egg or cottage cheese...but have had GREAT luck w/ re-fried beans which i used to turn my nose up at but am so thankful for now. I use the low fat canned add some onion powder and a lil garlic powder...sprinkle a lil low fat cheese on top...put it in toaster over for about 10 minutes and it is heaven and packed w/ protien. It just may be the liquid diet talking but this tastes so good to me and goes down so smoothly...try it!
You may still have some grehlin that is giving you actual hunger but that should pass in time, according to others on here that have had the same experience. As well I find solids, soft foods, seem to linger in the stomach longer giving me more of a satisfaction from eating that the liquid shakes just don't do.
You also are dealing with the mental hungers of smells and commercials and you need to change your habits for long term improvement in your diet.
