Exercise? Who, me?

I dont exercise...ever. Maybe took a few short walks since I've been sleeved 14 months ago. But, the other day I signed up for a 3 mile CANINE ADVENTURE hike through a MeetUp.com group promising a great time hiking around the Richmond canal district, the James River...up stairs, over bridges, down stairs, around bends, under bridges, through parks...stopping at a town center to see all the Christmas lights and then back to our cars. I was kind of stressing about it because I am basically lazy and although I am thin now...totally out of shape. Well, it was AWESOME! I took my youngest and smallest Rottweiler of my pack who is not use to a leash...that had me stressed, too, but she was great as she followed the pack and made me a proud mama! So, maybe now that I have found a group of folks who "exercise" without really calling it "exercise", I will exercise!

Just go to Find Meetup groups near you - Meetup and start checking out all the groups. It is nationwide. You can do a search on whatever your interests are. Its great!!

Regular "exercise" had been out of my life for many years. I am now going to start walking in an indoor pool so. Hope the water is warmer than the YMCA that I went to about 5 years ago. My RA just could not stand the cold water but it was great exercise!

This has been my secret for decades-put one foot in front of the others and suddenly you've gone miles. It helps if you have a nice spot where you can see lots of natural beauty. Even if there isn't getting moving w/ an Ipod or Mp3 player can give you a great time.

First, I like your new pic. Second, that sounds great. I'm trying to get the exercise in but I'm just not interested. I have started walking, with a DVD, just this past week. Sounds like a gorgeous walk.

Fantastic news!

I've really upped what I call incidental exercise - walking to work and back more days than not, walking to the shop at lunchtime, into town etc. I will get more into formal exercise when the new year hits, as I'll have to train for a ski-ing holiday in late March (yay me - haven't skiied for 7 years due to weight issues).

Human beings never used to have to exercise - life just required it. We get back to a way of life that includes less reliance on time saving devices like cars, and hey presto you're doing loads of miles!
