Does anyone have experience with Lovenox shots and how to take the sting out of it? My boyfriend is giving them to me and I'm not a wimp but these shots BURN!!!
II would poke my lower belly with my fingernail until I found a spot that had little feeling. My husbad would inject there and it typically felt a lot better. he liked that my nail impression on my skin gave him a target. I hope this helps...the good news is that the shots are only temporary.
I gave it a couple inches to each side if my belly button and below it. I used alcohol swabs to numb it did u,
Sorry for the ignorance, but what is Lovenox shots?
If you're using alcohol to wipe the site before injecting, make sure it's dry before giving the shot. The alcohol will burn the site more, however; the nature of the shots is to burn. I find it's easier to give myself the injection, rather than have somebody else give it to me. I felt the shots were far better than the risk of a blood clot. When I used the shots after surgery, I was still on insulin. My belly looked like a pin-cushion Hang in there, it's only for a short time, and then it's over. Continued success!
AHHHHHHHHH so I take it , that's it's something like a Heparon shot in the belly. had them in Hospital. Thanks. They do sting though, no matter where you put the, :P. but yes I agree, Much better than risking blood clots.
HUGS
OK, so I did them to myself and they taught me in hospital. They taught me to grab a sizeable roll of belly fat, and then inject into them myself. Very easy to do, much preferred than if someone else had given it to me. If someone else does it, you risk them hitting some muscle which will hurt. The size of the needle is very small so it goes in easily, and I could hardly feel it. Do it yourself, I had absolutely no trouble at all. Just pick a different site by a couple of centimetres each day, as the sites will bruise (due to the blood thinning effect).
