so i had my surgery 6 days ago is this normal?

so i had my surgery 6 days ago and i was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?...i keeping getting cramps in my calfs not long cramps but like 2 second cramps while im walking around they almost make me fall it looks like im being shocked lol,,, its not too terribly painful tho just wierd, i asked my dr and he told me i need to drink a protein drink and something with electrolites which has helped a lil but not much, any one else experience this?

It does sound like an electrolyte issue. I know you can get cramps if you are low on potassium.

I dont think i have read posts about this but are you drinking Powerade Zero or G2? It might help because of the potassium, sometimes if you are low it can cause cramping. I did have shoulder pain that was gas pain but not sure if I heard it in Calfs. The other concern would be blood clotting but since you went to US doc you are probably taking the shots or had shots to prevent.

i was told that means you are dehydrated, not enough fluid will cause bad cramps in your calfs

Have they started you on your vitamins yet? It could be low potassium or magnesium. Make sure you get plenty of fluids and it may sound funny but you could try pedialite.

Go out and get some coconut milk and drink it. All better.

I agree it sounds like your body is asking for potassium, Powerade gatorade or coconut milk should do the trick. If you were past liquid I would say eat a banana but it's too early for that.
