Is non fat or low far yogurt considered to be full liquid?
My nutritionist told me to have some thinned with milk.
I searched and searched for a protein powder that didn't have aspartame or sucralose (nutri-sweet, Splenda, equal) since I am allergic to these chemicals. Man,it is hard to find one without these things!! I have found some and have tried 2. One is from the grocery store, Publix. They have their organic Greenwise brand in vanilla and chocolate. Only tried vanilla, it's great! And the I found a product on Amazon called Naked Whey. It's amaaaaazing! No flavor and I am in love with it.
So, just in case anyone else has the same allergy-migraines and dizziness from ingesting these things, there are a couple of options for ya!
I have found that anything that has Acesulfame potassium which is an addictive in most sugar free drinks makes me really ill.
The way I found out was that I was using sugar free Instant Breakfast Essentials and got really ill on it prior to surgery. I came across an article on Yahoo that talked about people getting sick on it. As soon as I removed it, I got better. It is HARD to find anything without this in it. I had forgotten about this when I bought a bag of whey protein from Sam's Club and once again got really sick. When I checked, sure enough it was in the protein drink.
I HATE jello, unless it's my MIL's strawberry jello salad. It has a layer of jello/sourcream on it that is SO delicious. I haven't found any nonfat sour cream, so I'm going to go ahead and make it with some Fage Greek yogurt. Just substitute a cup of the yogurt for a cup of the liquid. I hope it's as good as it's sounding right now. I start full liquids tomorrow, and I am SO excited to get stuff other than water, clear juice, and protein stuff.
Clear juices (apple/white grape), Crystal light or other sugar free drinks in any color but red. I cut the juices with water - but it helps with the headaches. Tea, black coffee (though I'd use this time to wean off of caffeine totally), herbal teas. The more variety the better.
Genepro Medical Grade Protein also has no taste and can mix in anything including water hot or cold, all foods.
How much should I eat on the full liquid portion of the diet? My instructions say just to eat until you are full. I still do not know what that means. I've been measuring out my soup to 3 ounces though I'm not sure where I got that number. Today I am wanting more than 3 ounces but after the 3 ounces I got this bad feeling in my stomach where I thought I was going to pass out but then I burped and was okay. Is that a normal size to eat now?
Hi Tina, my surgeon and nut said to have no more than half a cup (4oz) per setting, but 30 minutes later you can drink more if you wish. Usually if my soup was really thin, I was fine, but with a thicker soup I would not finish my portion. It's not just the size, it's also what's in it. If there is lot's of water it will be fine, more protein or fibers will take longer to digest. Good luck and take care.
