I just raided the grocery yesterday for some new flavors to add to my protein powders. I have isopure creamy vanilla and syntrax chocolate truffle powders. Here is what I came up with so far:
8oz unsweetened soy milk
1scoop chocolate protein powder
2 tbs Torani hazelnut syrup
2 ice cubes
*tastes like Nutella *
8oz unsweetened soy milk
1scoop chocolate protein powder
2 ice cubes
1/4 tsp almond extract
1/4 tsp coconut extract
* tastes like almond joy *
8oz unsweetened soy milk
1scoop vanilla protein powder
2 ice cubes
1tsp espresso powder or instant coffee
1tbs sf caramel syrup
*tastes like a Starbucks caramel frappachono *
8oz unsweetened soy milk
1scoop chocolate protein powder
1/2 frozen banana
1 tbs pb2
I will try to add more as I invent new flavors. Enjoy!
So since acesulfame-K gives me headaches (it's in Syntrax Nectar), I decided to make up my own shake. This morning I used 8 oz. Trop50 Pomegranate and Blueberry juice (50 calories per cup), greek yogurt, 1 scoop unflavored medical protein powder (I used Nectar), and 1/2 cup frozen raspberries. I had to add a little Splenda to taste too. It was very good!
I am so confused on what to look for as far sugar, cals, carbs?? And I was told no citrus fruit for like 6wks..pineapple, oranges and such. I was told nothing I eat or drink should have more than 5grams of sugar and low in everything else. I am finding it difficult to find things to eat and Im not getting my protein in for sure so I was looking here for some tasty options but I am so confused! Was anyone else told low sugar? I really need protein options!
I am beginning my pre-op diet next week which is liquid only up to surgery. I tried a protein shake today and although it tasted fine, I about gagged due to the texture. Does anyone know if it is ok to freeze the protein shakes before eating them?
Just want to say you've lost a considerable amount of weight and I'm sure that's gotta feel awesome! I'm definitely not alumni here yet....one month out and progressing slowly! But slow & steady wins.... Still, I must agree it's difficult finding sugar free choices often. I'm leaning on Greek yogurts, Premier (Sam's Club) ready-to-drink (30g protein!) shakes, and Luna & KIND protein bars throughout the day. The flavored shakes posted above sound good too! Whatever you do, keep up the good work! You're on your way!!!
I had surgery Nov. 9 2013 and I have done great. I found out about a protein with Glutathione enhancer, I still take it because it helps with so
many things. Dr. Oz spoke about in on TV, the link is (
