I am feeling a little deprived? I really want to make good choices during my journey.

A staple for me has been tuna salad made with light miracle whip & a little sweet relish. I'm actually eating it for breakfast right now. Sounds totally weird & I never would have done that pre-op, but for some reason it tastes great to me now & it's low fat & high protein. Sugar free pudding & frozen fudge pops are a great treat too.
Cottage cheese, eggs, greek yogurt, oatmeal (mixed with greek yogurt), Campbell's Gardenay soups, Laughing Cow cheese, stewed carrots (in chicken broth), applesauce, salmon patties, tilapia filets, canned mandarin oranges, well-steamed broccoli, lentil soup, well-braised meat (like stews or pot-roasts), tuna salad, and chicken salad.
During the soft food stage, I made my family a lot of stews and pot-roast-type meals so I could partake. Or, if they were having burgers, I would have a salmon patty. I made an effort not to exclude myself from family meals (it becomes a mental issue with me, deprivation of sorts if I am never eating with them). I just scoured my recipe books (lord knows I have enough of them lol) and the internet for meals that would work for all of us.
For me, it's important to eat like a normal person (albeit smaller portions). My weight problems stemmed from overeating, not really from unhealthy foods. So, I haven't really changed the family diet all that much because it was never really a high-fat one.
