Default Haven't lost any weight in 4 months!!

I have been stuck at 200 pounds since July, I have stopped losing and I'm only 8 months out... I am really scared I think I messed this whole thing up! I still want to lose 35 pounds and I feel like its never going to happen. I have not been following the program, ever... I have never been on a diet since surgery and I lost the diet my surgeon gave me, I would like to start doing everything I'm supposeed to be doing. Anyone care to help? I'd like to know what a normal day for someone 8 months out is like.... what are you eating and how much? excersize? I feel so lost.

    thanks

I so feel your pain - I just came off of a 6 week stall - I can't imagine 4 months - I think I'd be ready to jump off a bridge! heehee - just kidding! BUT oh the agony!!! What helped me is to try to stick with protein and very few carbs. In the past week I have lost 10 lbs. I have protein for every meal - just got some protein bars but I don't rely on them except when I can't get lunch. Mainly just stick with food. I don't drink any calories - just Vit water zero, tea, or water. had been having a little pasta and had to totally stop and it seems to be helping. Sure hope your stall breaks soon!!!

Wish I had an answer, I stopped dead at 8 mo as well and that was 6 mo ago. It's only this week I seem to be finally getting the scale to move again.

I did realize recently a lot of processed food and sf sweeteners had crept into my diet. Also I had added fruit, and bread, ate too much cheese and bacon.

If you find you perhaps have a lot of that kind of thing, then going back to basics.... 90+ gms of protein, little carbs and those as non starch veggies, and no sweeteners may jump start you. Low sodium. Also check your calorie count, you probably need to be at about 1100 a day to drop any weight at your size and be exercising 30 min a day.

I'm exactly 5 months out and have been on a 3 week stall. I've started weight training and muscle weighs more. But I also realize that carbs have crept into my diet too.

SO, I'm back to basics with focusing on protein, veggies and fruits. I hit the gym twice a week for weights and at least 3 times a week for cardio (treadmill with burst of speed and incline).

You can get this back on track! Are you doing a food journal? Are you measuring portions? Getting in all of your water? This is a great support community. Use all of us. :-)

I would go back to the basics in your case. Weigh and measure your portions. Try to limit yourself to 4 oz of protein and 1/2 cup of veggies at meals, and if you're still hungry than I would say add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of complex carbs (beans) or whole grains to the meal as well. Try the rule of no drinking 30 minutes before eating or for an hour after (my own surgeon put me on no drinking 30 minutes prior and 90 minutes after, but a lot of people on here were told to wait only an hour after eating before drinking again). In between meals try to constantly drink zero calorie liquids to stay full. Make sure your protein sources are lean (chicken breast, seafood, lean cuts of pork, 90/10 ground beef, etc).

I would also advise starting a food log. It's important for you to see how much you're eating every day and how many calories you're taking in. For some people on here, they're forced to stay on ultra low (less than 30 grams) carb diets. I'm still losing and I keep my carbs around 100 grams a day. If you're snacking on junk food in between meals, try to get all the junk food out of the house. If you're grazing, try not to graze and plan your meals, and if needed, a mid-morning and/or mid-afternoon snack. Also, drinking alcohol adds a lot of empty calories - I don't know if you drink, but if you do, try to limit your intake when you go out. You can do this!

FYI even though I'm nearly a year out now, at 8 months I was eating between 800 - 1000 calories a day, which gave me anywhere from 70 - 100 grams of protein and on average 40 grams of fat and 60 grams of carbs a day plus a minimum of 64 oz of fluid each day.

The exact same thing happened to me at 8 mo. I had a HUGE stall, but as these lovely ladies said...go back to basics. I really started watching what went in my mouth and concentrated on my protein and water. The stall finally broke and I'm back on track. My doc also said that for some reason when women reach that 200 mark they tend to stall...thats where I was too! Good luck and keep the faith, the scale will move again!!!

Please think about why you had the surgery in the first place and get back on track. It is only a tool. For most of us, we need to follow the rules in order for the tool to work.
    (Goal!!! Maintenance Lane!)

    • Reduce calories intake for weightloss.
    • Exercise for heart health, mental health and weight maintenance.
    • Make realistic goals.
    • Never give up.

Default Re: Haven't lost any weight in 4 months!!

I am 10 and a half months out and have not lost ANYTHING in 4 months. With in the last 2 weeks I have been tracking everything in my fitness pal and have started exercising 5 times a week. I realized I was eating way to many calories and had completely fallen off the wagon with this tool. It was so easy in the beginning, but I realized something amazing about this stall. Stalls are frustrating but under normal circumstances with out this tool I would be gaining weight back by now. I would have given up and gone back to "normal" eating habits. I did not do that this time....instead I just started recording my weight each day. Good or bad, not matter what, I write it down on a calendar that is on my wall in front of my scale. I can see during that time of month that I bounce up a pound or 2 and then slowly come back down. But its a visual reminder of my weight....so that I don't let pounds creep back on.
This surgery is a tool, its not a miracle, we have to use it and learn to live with in its limits. Weight watchers has the right idea when they say its a life style change; not just a diet. If we don't reprogram our brains while our stomachs have limits, we can and will gain the weight back. The wonderful thing about this tool is it gives us a new lease on life; most of us are enjoying activities a year ago we only dreamed about doing. Find something you can do now and hang onto that happy spot in your brain. Your happy spot may change....but keep a happy spot that is something you have now at a smaller size that you would never had at your heavier weight. Enjoy it, embrace it and keep going and moving, the scale will follow in a downward flow. If not....at least it won't go back up. Keep the faith! Asking for help is the first step.
