It's not hard for me to imagine 4, esp. when you consider that some supplements/meds have to be taken apart from each other.
I have a friend at work that had the bypass. She takes vitamins several times a day to avoid malnutrition. She uses several large 7 day pill sorters and labels them each for the time of day she is to take her vitamins. She also sets alarms on her cell phone so she doesn't forget. Hope this helps. Good luck!
holy crap four a day? as a sleeve patient, we do not have malabsorption, so usually all our bodies require is a multi vitamin once daily and a b12 dose (daily monthly or weekly depending on delivery system). after you have your blood work, you may find a specific deficiency, most common is vitamin d and you can take one extra supplement for whatever that vitamin is. if you can't swallow pills easily, the centrum chewables are actually good, and i am REALLY picky with flavors and gag if its gross.
Pounds LOST since surgery 111

my first goal is to get to 141pounds, that will put me in the NORMAL range bmi. My second goal is 120, which is thin and healthy.
Judging by the size of my current calcium/vit D (which are huge pills) and I normally take 2-3/daily since I don't eat much calcium at all, it is really best for absorption to be divided. I can see how the supplements I take daily now could almost be 2 meals once I am sleeved
Oh yea the phone alarm is great. Only way to remember for me. I get busy and just forget to take anything not on my morning meds or evening meds. I also have to do this with any other meds that have to be taken 3 or more times a day. Good luck to you and follow your Dr orders!!!
I struggled to take any medication after the operation and pre op because of my health problems i was having 36 tablets a day and i would take 10 to 13 at a time just throw them in and gulp them down. 4 months on and i am back to that really. Tho its a struggle with the sleeve but i can chug my pills with a much smaller amount of liquid! I take a once a day multi vit along with calcium, iron and cod liver oil. i am trying to research what protein powders i could or should try as im struggling with eating things. im also looking into nootropics like Alpha brain and hemp force
So , I take about 30 pills a day. This includes heart meds and pain pills for fybromialgia. It's a lot. However, since I've been getting them everyday, I feel better. I take 2 Multivitamins. Centrum was the standard, but Equate multi (under 50) is equivalent and cheaper. I take 2 Simply Right Calcium citrate petite 4x a day. That's 1600 mg of calcium. I also take C, iron, D3, B12, & D1. How do I get them all down? It was a struggle at first. I downloaded an app called "Medisafe" It allows me to schedule the pills. This was especially important in the beginning when 2 calcium filled me up. Then I bought little pill boxes at Wal-Mart (7 of them) I put stickers with times instead of days. I organize them once a week and the box is small enough to take with me everywhere. The reminders pop up on my phone, that's the ONLY way I remember.
Now, the other way I read this question is how do we physically take those giant pills? It's difficult at times. I really had a swallowing problem in the beginning. We were supposed to take chewable for the first 6 weeks. That was a struggle for me because I HATE all of them! I didn't take them very well. I have found the easiest way to take large pills is either put them UNDER your tongue, then take a drink. The natural movement of your tongue moves the pill to the back of the throat as you swallow. Plus, lack of tastebuds under tongue help if that bothers you. The other way you might try is take a drink, keep liquid in your mouth and throw the pill in then swallow. I use both methods. I've always had a bit of a problem with pill taking, but I made this commitment to try and be healthy. I know that I don't get enough nutrition in the little bit of food I consume, so vitamins it is.
