    Default Trouble eating

I’ll start this by saying that I’m 4+ months out and I LOVE my sleeve!! I feel better than I have in years and am losing those pesky pounds and gaining SO much more than I ever imagined!!! My problem is that I have recently started having some eating issues and wonder if I’m alone in this. I always seem to notice it after I break a stall (probably just a coincidence) but everything I try to eat simply doesn’t sit well in my stomach so I give up on it and just walk away. Sometimes, if I try hard enough, I can find something else that my stomach will tolerate but other times I just simply don’t eat. I’m hungry but not starving & seem to be surviving mostly on cheese at times like this (cheese sticks & Laughing Cow cheeses) but I know I’m not getting the nutrients I need and that concerns me. I can’t stand the taste of my shakes any more and granola/protein bars don’t sit well so those are out too. I don’t know, maybe I’m just burning myself out on the things I eat to the point I just can’t use them anymore, I feel like I’m in an unhealthy rut here and need some advice. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have the same problem I KNOW I am not getting the protein, and I just cant eat more than 2-3 bites or I am physically sick, if I eat almonds they don''t upset me at all. I just make sure I am getting my fluids and have found a protein bar I LOVE they are Power Crunch bars they don't bother me at all, but I can only eat a quarter of one at a time. Just hang in there I am 3 months out and I think it will get better, hope this helped :-).

I'm in the same boat and am not enjoying eating at all lately. Nothing looks appealling. I find that if I make a protein shake and have 1/2 of it sometime in the morning and the other half in the evening I have a better chance getting it down.

Thanks ladies, at least i know i'm not alone in this ... sometimes that means a lot doesn't it?!? I find myself eating more fruit than anything right now ... 1/2 banana here, a cup of oranges in juice there but i know i need a lot more nutrients than they're providing, i'll have to look into the bars you mentioned and see how those go over! Thanks again!!!

I had and still have this problem, but I promise it gets better! do you like shrimp or crab? make yourself some crab salad and have it with crackers, I ate shrimp with hot cocktail sauce for a while when I just couldn't stand anything else. and some days I just has a spoon of peanut butter, I got very weak from not eating, so be sure to try and get something in you with protein. good luck, and it does get much easier as time goes on . I am one yr out and can eat white bread without toasting it. but not a sub bread.

If you do OK with bananas, what about a smoothie? I like to peel and then freeze my bananas to use. So how about, a half a frozen banana, 1/2 C frozen strawberries, 1C milk, and 1-2 scoops of vanilla or unflavored protein. You can add more milk to get to the consistency you like. Even if it takes you 2-3 hours to drink it, you would get 60g of protein with 2 scoops. Even just plain skim milk has about 8-10g of protein. Another thing my Dr has on our menu is "fortified milk" meaning adding powdered milk to skim milk to up the protein and nutrients. What about some jerky? There are so many things out with protein, edamame has a bunch of protein too. What about peanut butter? They have that PB2 that has a lot of protein and you can limit the fat.

Hope this ideas help ya out!!

Ive mentioned this b4 so Ill mention it again. I have problems with protein drinks because I get full fast. So I drink the 2ounce drinks that have 25 grams of protein in each 2 ounces. Look online at Walmart they provide these drinks and 2 ounces is so much easier to drink then 8-16 ounces of a protein shake.

You are not alone. I had my surgery one day before you and have the same experience. I just roll with it; eat what you can, when you can. Sleeves can be so temperamental. What went down well one day won't settle well another day.
