How long is a normal amount of time post op to have a bowel movement?

My first after surgery was about 5 days later, I was terrified. Then after that, I was stuck for about 1 week. I took colace and it didn't do anything for me. So I ended up using a glycerin suppository. It worked. At that point, I decided to take a probiotic to see if it would keep me regular. I really think it helped because that much time hasn't elapsed and it's getting better each day. I tried the probiotic called pearls $13.99 at walgreens. I'm still taking it. Drink lots of fluids, that also helps. I told my Dr about it during my f/up post op appt and he said that if it happened that long again, to use an enema (I said, I'll take that as a recommendation and not a mandatory requirement and will use my judgement, no thanks, I prefer the suppository). lol.. I was about 7 days after before I could poop out a bunny size very natural, your stomach as nothing in it to poop out so..
