For those of us that are having to go to Mexico, what is your experience with after care and insurance? Has the charges been covered?
This is a good question. The best way to do this is make sure your primary physician is on board to assist you when you get back. If not find a doctor who will. Since I had no complications at all I just needed my stitches out and routine blood work from time to time. This is all just covered under an office visit. I pay my 30 dollar copay and that'st that. Now if there was a major problem such as a leak or something I have wondered if insurance would cover the cost to repair those kinds of damages.
I was told that because my insurance does not cover my surgery.....they will not cover anything that might go wrong in the future with my GI tract, even if it has nothing to do with my surgery. This makes me so very glad to be a healthcare provider.....I am having the surgery done anyway.
Oh, I see.
Yes, Jerzeygirl-I have to keep lowering my ticker! Dont want to lose anymore
I checked with my PCP and was told that even if insurance covered it, she would not be able to provide medical care for me for anything that might be associated with my surgery. This really scares me because they could easily construe this to me anything. I've been with this Dr. for over 16 years and it looks like I'm going to have to get a different Dr.
I would like for my GI doctor to provide followup care after my surgery, but I am sure she won't because she is opposed to me having the surgery. My PCP is supportive so I will ask her to do it. Routine stuff will still be covered. I already had my gallbladder removed so thankfully that won't be an issue.
