    Default Excercise help, suggestions...

Hi sleevers!!! I am a little over one month out. My surgery was on 7/10/12 and I am down about 26 pounds. I have started going back to the gym but I have noticed that after my workouts I seem to have a lot of nausea and I am so tired that I struggle to stay awake until bedtime. I was working out 5-6 days a week before surgery and had TONS of energy after a work-out. I am only doing cardio right now with a little weight training. I am not quite getting all my proteins in a day, usually about 50g and dr recommends 60g. Fluids....usually about 60 oz. Anyone else out there have any problems with excercise and if so do you have any suggestions that might help me get over this?

Hmmm, maybe that is it. My doctor released me at 3 weeks for full excercise but several of my friends have said the same thing...too much too soon. Maybe I will lay off the eliptical and just stick to the treadmill and see if that makes a difference.

    I'm 2 wks out.
I was told not to lift anything over 10 lbs for the first two weeks. Today, I was cleared to lift 15 bs.
For exercise, my instructions are to do walking only, and only on FLAT surfaces, for at least one month. I have been walking 45 min a day for the past week, and just made it up to one hour walks yesterday (flat surfaces). Still not okay to do sit-ups or ANY core exercises.

I don't know how long you work out for, or what you do, but you need to be prudent and take it slow.

Perhaps you are pushing it a bit too hard already. Take it easy - stick to walking, hiking, etc. Also I discovered that since I eat much smaller amounts, I need to eat something shortly before I work out, or my blood sugar drops too low during a workout and I can get a bit lightheaded and nauseous. I find this to be especially true in the mornings, and during the first couple of months after I returned to full exercise. Now I ensure that I am well hydrated before I go, and have had something to eat. If I am going to be hiking and therefore gone longer, I bring several snacks as well as my large (1Liter) Camelback bottle. All this seems to help. Or it could be that I am eating more now.

Stick with your exercise, just slow it down a bit until you give your body more time to heal. Good luck!
