Default Thoughts on exercise post op?

OK, I confess, I did not do much exercise during my pre op diet. During the entire 2 weeks, I did cardio maybe 5 times and strength training maybe 7 times with a resistance band.

Since my surgery on the 16th, I began walking 20-30 minutes a day and felt great. That was until I hurt myself sweeping on the 22nd. Since then, I have done nothing and I'm having a very hard time motivating myself to at least walk. My energy level was great up until then, but now I feel exhausted all the time and my left side it giving me a great deal of pain.

Considering I have a desk job and therefore have been almost completely sedentary up until now, is it OK to just walk and do a bit of strength training with my bands? I feel like everyone is doing these killer workouts, but honestly I am so frickin' exhausted I just can't imagine even walking, much less doing anything more strenuous. How do I get myself motivated when I feel like garbage?

Start of Preop = 316lbs; Date of Surgery = 302lbs

Light walking and light weights sounds just right, the idea is to build up your stamina gently and to not over do it so when you're further out from having your surgery you'll be ready to up your game. As you lose weight and as your stanima builds you'll find you can do more and more in the form of exercising.

Just got back from a brisk 40 minute walk with the dogs! I feel great and the dogs are pooped... wonderful way to end the day!

I do water aerobics which actually burn more calories. You may try that to see if changing your routine will help. Mix walking with it and it will keep the boredom away.
