    Default Diet change

I am 2 weeks post-op and I get that I am anxious to move away from a liquid diet. I never thought I could do it for 4 weeks. But I tried pureed today and was uncomfortably full after 3 tsp in 20 minutes. And stayed that way for an hour and a half. And now I am sipping another "Delish" protein shake instead of going to bed because I'm very behind in my intake of protein and liquids. Any ideas of how long this takes till I can atleast eliminate 1 shake? How should I tackle this?

You're doing it the right way, unfortunately it can be an individual tolerance thing....focus on highest protein foods like tuna or chicken salad until you can get more in comfortably.. I also found taking just a sip of water before I started eating solids in the beginning moved some air out of the way to make more room. Just one sip at the beginning, not before each bite.

Wait you get to drink Protein shakes? I had a bit this morning on my way to the Dr. for my 10 day follow-up and she got mad at me because I only lost 14 lbs.

    Hello Kathleen,
I am 3 weeks out and am still drinking the protien shakes because I can only eat a tablespoon or two of food at a time. I feel very full for a couple hours before I can eat any more. So your doing fine.

    TO Kodakmom
It is strange how each Dr. is different. I follow the Phase diet (Phase I is full liquid 1-2 weeks, Phase II is pureed for weeks 3-5 the Phase III is soft/ground weeks 6-8 then diet as tolerated after that) and I don't follow-up with my Dr. for 5 weeks. My Dr. wants me to take atleast 64 oz. of liquid as well as 60-80 grams of protein each day so I have to drink the shakes or I would never reach that goal.
    14 pounds doesn't sound bad.
