Red face A threesome question for new and old sleevers

Now that I got your attention (wink),

    I have three burning questions:

    1. I am curious as to what number of calories, fats, carbs and proteins you try to eat in a day.

    AND

    2. Does it sometimes make more sense to look at a few days or a week in review instead of seeing each day as a pass/fail in terms of meeting the aforementioned numbers? Sometimes I cant get enough of one or get too much of another.

    AND

    3. Is there a good source of protein that does not have high fat/carbs other than shakes/drinks?

    LOL

    1. I think IF you are counting the calories it is between 600-900 right now - Protein is 60-80g - carbs are less than 30g and fat - IDK, as little as possible

    2. I believe these are all meant to be daily goals.

    3. Seafood, turkey, chicken or any other lean meat (pork tenderloin, low sodium - 98% fat free ham, etc.)

These are just my perspective - but everyone finds what works best for them.

Sorry...I cannot even BEGIN to wrap my head around counting all those things. If i could, I would have never had the sleeve and just gone on a diet. I don't even think about that stuff anymore. I just enjoy life now.

Greek yogurt, eggs, and low fat mozzerella cheese sticks as protein sources.

I don't really count but now that I'm maintaining I estimate I eat between 1200 and 1400 cals per day. I try to focus on protein first. I do not count protein or carb grams though. I think in the end it's about what you do week in and week out that matters most.

I am only about 11 days post-op and I am eating around 600 cal a day and 80 G of protein. My Dr. said not to stress over how many calories your taking in and just focus on the protein and not eating carbs and other weight loss killers.

I don't count calories necessarily, but since I log everything in myfitnesspal, that counts them up for me anyway. I usually eat aorund 800 calories 5 days out of the week, but sometimes I can go up to 1000 or so.

I concern myself more with how much fat, sugar and fiber I'm getting, as well as carbs. I try to keep protein at aminimum of 60 per day, fat 30-40 a day and carbs less than 50 a day. And yes, seafood is an excellent source of protein that's lower in fat -- just keep an eye on the cholesterol levels if that's an issue for you.

Gulf snapper has a lot of protein. One 4 oz serving has 34 grams of protein. I am going to see my NUT next week and plan to ask these very questions of her.

I am below goal and don't want to lose anymore. My calories are at about 1300-1500 a day. I am also an avid exerciser. I shoot for 80 grams of protein a day. Some days my carbs are higher than others. Usually 50-70. I don't really look at fat to much but I do try and keep my sugar down. I think chicken is my best source of protein. I still drink a protein shake daily. Protein bars and almonds for me too!

Why go through all of this to count calories? Your stomach is smaller so is your intake-stop worrying and it just falls off.

there are 3500 calories in one pound. so keep this in mind if you plan your weekly menu, try to keep your calories between 600-800 at first, after loosing then you can increase it. the best information is on the nutrtion facts label. it is based on 2000 calories, so adjust the daily values with what your intake is. for example 1000 calories per day, total fat about 32 g a day. cholesterol 150, carbs 150 fiber 15-20. this is just for helping you with this question. but I go lower. I only get in about 20 g fat. cholesterol(I have high chol) so I keep this below the norm. I keep my fiber up and protein at about 60-80 gm a day.
fish, such as salmon is very good for you, low in chol. fat, and high source of protein! broiled, baked, not fried for less calories and fat, and sodium. hope that this helps
