$4500. Plus my plane ticket. A lot less then in the US.
So it seems Dr Almanza is a almost $1200 cheaper than Dr. Ramos-Kelly. Could I be missing something?
That is what I'm exactly saying. I wonder which of these doctors Medical Tourism Corporation fixes my cousin up with. I'd insist on Dr. Almanza. However, i'm still open to other low cost countries such as Costa Rica. I surmise Costa Rica would be fun.
One difference between Ramos and Alamanza (don't hate on me, Almanzans!) is that Almanza does his surgeries in a clinic, Ramos in a hospital. To be fair there is a hospital across the street from the clinic. Almanza has many, many happy patients but I switched to Ramos due to the fact that I have an immuno supression disease. After that, though, my insurance (AFTER 3 denials) finally accepted me into the bariatric program so I did that instead.
Hi I spent over a year deciding on Sleeve Doctors. Originally I was going with Dr. Kelly but have changed to Dr. Ponce. Trish is coordinator through WLS. She is fantastic. She lives in MX and personally knows a lot of the doctors there. Dr. Ponce taught a lot of the doctors now doing gastric proceedures in MX. He is well known and has done gastric surgery on some of the doctors in MX. I live in San Diego and went to TJ met Dr. Ponce and his team. I went to INT hospital and found it to be clean, safe and the nurses were very nice and helpful. I spoke to many patients there and there experience was positive. It is not a storefront clinic where you go into and then go to a house for after care. It is a hospital with a ICU. So I feel safe. Dr. PPonce works out of many hospitals if you prefer a different one. My surgery is July 24th. If I can help let me know.
Thank you all for your priceless advice. But, this debate b/w Dr. Ramos and Dr. Almanza lingers on. The medical loan facility comes as a breather, I just read up on Mexico-health website. And, I also saw some testimonials on youtube. I can't choose the doctor still.
@grace331969 - That's nice to know. Wish you a lighter and healthier future. Btw what's Nsg? Pardon my ignorance?
$4250 I paid with Dr Almanza plus my flight and hotel from London was $1000 so in total I paid 5250...I stayed in Mexico 3 nights as I was in alot of pain, then a further 2 nights in San Diego as I didnt want to fly 11 hrs as was uncomfortable for 2 weeks after surgery. Good luck....Sarah
Wow I did it! I had my sleeve surgery done on Monday. Dr. Ponce is fantastic. I don't feel hungry at all. the only issue I had was nausea. The only pain I have is the drain incision healing. I had no gas pains and I thought my stomach would feel like it had been removed and it doesn't. I'm a lil tired. Im having no problem keeping water, broth or juice down. I'm so excited. I stayed at the Lucerna Hotel and it was extremel nice and comfy. The pool area is beautiful. The bed was so comfy! Trish was fantastic as I knew she would be. She takes care of you. Trust me she makes a huge difference especially if you are traveling alone like I did.
I think Dr. Almanza works out of a store front clinic. Owned by his brother. That may be why he is cheaper. Just research research research. I used Dr. Ponce, he was fantastic, trained Dr. Kelly. They operate in hospitals.
