How long until plastic surgery?

I'm realizing that, somehow even at 320 pounds, I had saggy skin. Now its becoming worse because of the weight loss - no complaints on the cause!

I'm thinking I should hit close to my goal in December, with a lot of weight dropping from taking out that skin. Being at a year post surgery that won't hurt my sleeve will it?

We are going to Puerto Rico for my college graduation/birthday in June 2013 and if I could be healed by then I'd be.exstatic .

Is it plausible?

While you can always find a doctor to do something for you, I don't think in this case it would be wise. Your body goes through a lot of changes even as you've finished losing weight. The skin tries to adjust itself to the new body, weight is distributed one place and taken away from another. I've heard a number of surgeons say you should wait until you've maintained your weight loss for a year.

My surgeon said the same. I have to maintain for at least 6months to a year before it's wise to consider skin reduction.
I have saggy arms, thighs and tummy and in my opinion they're a no hoper but my surgeon reckons by the end of next year my skin will have pretty much gone back to normal. I'm sceptical but he's been spot on with everything else.x

I've had 3 consults with PS and the common theme seems to be that everyone is different, depending on the extent of the skin and how much weight you've lost. All 3 of my consults said it would be ok for ME to have surgery as long as I'm in my "ideal" weight and stay there (with 10 lbs fluctuation) for at least 3months. I have to say that my body hasn't changed as much as someone who has lost 150 lbs, or someone 25 yrs old, etc. I say consult a few surgeons and see what they have to say.

I'm totally feeling ya......for the first time today I noticed some wrinkles forming at a few saggy spots, and with another 80 pounds to go till my ultimate goal, I'm afraid that I'm going to start looking like a cross between a naked mole rat and a sharpei....

Totally feel ya, Jersey John! It took some talking to from a work friend of mine (had the bypass done about five years ago?) that what looks like fat is actually just skin hanging down. It's also why I haven't gone down any more pant sizes, which has me angry lol. Just from what I'm at right now, I feel like I'll have to have one done.

Also, I own a shar-pei mix and we are definitely starting to look like close relatives. Good luck on that last eighty!!
