Just posting what's in my head today. I am 11 days after surgery and I feel pretty good. Still don't think I am getting enough protein, mostly cause I can't find a shake I like. I am so excited though I had cream of wheat for breakfast! LOL It was only a few minutes ago so let's see if I can keep it down! Anyway, I have lost 25 pounds so far and have no regrets!

Congrats on your surgery! I was getting tired of the same whey protein shakes (made with milk) so I switch it up with another I make: which is V-8 Splash, Plain Yogurt, 1 and half scoops of whey protein - sometimes I add like 5 frozen strawberries, or blueberries - blend for a few seconds - let settle for hour or so (to get rid of bubbles) and it is a yummy way to get that protein! Just thought I'd share that with ya..

My husband and I have been trying different ones preparing for surgery. We found a chocolate one in the fresh fruit and vegetable section of Sam's Club that is really good and doesn't leave an aftertaste. If you like chocolate milk it was really good. They have a vanilla too that I am going to try the next time I go for groceries. It is called Bolthouse Farms. There are 64 grams of whey & soy protein in each bottle and each bottle is 4 servings.

Someone posted a recipe for a yummy protein shake on this site. It uses strawberries (frozen) a banana and blueberries (but we have a blueberry allergy in our house so we don't use them...I use blackberries instead) a scoop of crystal lite strawberry kiwi and a scoop of protein powder. (it called for chocolate but I use vanilla) I also add orange juice but you could use milk. It is yummy and gets your calories up (which I struggle with) and you get a good source of protein.

I talked to the nutritionist where I work at the Veterans hospital here in Biloxi MS and he told me about proteinex. It's on line I just ordered some from Weight Loss Diets, Protein Diet Foods, Liquid Protein Diet, Weight Loss Foods, Diet Meal Replacements, Diet Supplements. It's called predigested but I try not to think about how. LOL makes me think of a cow chewing cud. Most people say it tastes like cough syrup but the lemon lime is good mixed with crystal light and water so I am going to try it.

I thought in the early stages that we were supposed to watch out for too many carbs, which fruit would be really high carbs? I'm confused!!

BBM, Carbs are important in every stage, including maintenance. Nice thing is
with the very small quantities of food we get I have found no problem
with the higher carb foods. I think the nut would probably support fruit
as a good source. Again it is a question on quantity.

Thanks Mike for the info. Fruits and veg are super ways to get healthy carbs in - I've just been kind of confused as to what is best to eat at my very boring stage of pureed foods. I honestly can't see how I can get enough protein in eating purees without supplementing with protein shakes but my doctor has said they prefer us to wean off of the shakes and eat regular food (albeit pureed - yuck )

Your results are absolutely fantastic - I can only hope to be that successful!!

    Betsy
