Default My Body is Super Weird. Am I the Only One?

Okay so I am 5 1/2 weeks out and I am down about 40 lbs. So one would think that I'd be needing some new clothes soon right? Ha! Tell me how the heck a body can lose 40 lbs and not change clothes sizing? At my highest weight before surgery I didn't have much left to wear as I had put on more weight in the 6 months before surgery. I literally had 2 prs of pants that fit. I didn't want to buy more when I knew I'd be getting sleeved.

So now I still fit in those same pants and yes, they are a little looser (not much) but I cannot fit into any of my smaller sizes!!!! Grrr. I ended up cutting one of my fitting pants into shorts so now only have ONE pr of pants that fit. I ended up ordering a couple of skirts from Lane Bryant as I can't stand this anymore.

This is completely weird right? My Mom says it's because I lose weight first from my face, arms, boobs and that is why I haven't dropped a size yet but really? 40 lbs of face, lol? I feel like I will be at the same clothes size forever! I have to be the only one with a whacko body like this right?

I have lost almost 60lbs but have not changed any clothes other than my bras. I wear stretch pants so they still fit fine. The polo shirts are looser but I can still wear them.

I lost in my face, boobs and butt first. It will happen and you will drop a couple sizes at once. Patience your body is adjusting.

I didn't change sizes til I had lost over 50 lbs. Perhaps because I was at maximum density of my old clothes. I have also noticed that when I was previously at my current weight (3 years ago) that I was a size smaller than I currently am. Hoping that my body just needs the time to catch up.

we all lose weight in different places on the body at different rates. I am down 30 pounds as of this morning. YAY! And I went to a yard sale at my friend's house. She had a rack of clothes from Macy's all with the tags still on--never worn. I bought a size 14 dress Jones NY, originally $144.000 for twenty bucks: It fits--doesn't fit the way I want it to yet, but the fact that I could even get it on was nothing short of amazing to me. I also bought two caridigans, size 16--($5.00 each)I could get them on but I will wait a while before I wear them so they look right. As someone who was (is) wearing sizes 18-24, depending on the item, this was so exciting! I also have a lot of Lane Bryant clothes. I wear the black pants for work pretty much every day--have about 9 pairs in all sizes 18-22, and they still fit. Go figure?

its true, everyone loses weight differently...I am sure all of a sudden you will notice a difference, take pics too and note your progress. I bet at the milestones
of 6 months, 9 months and a year you will really be noticing...

I think this is a big part of it. I really didn't think of this until you wrote it! I probably should've been in a size bigger at my highest weight.

Thanks everyone, I am hoping that with another 20 or so lbs I can fit in some of my smaller sizes. I have some pants that I will probably never wear as the weather is getting to warm for them. Oh well, I am happy about my loss and that is what counts right?

There are so many factors involved. The heavier you are, the slower the sizes drop. The sizes really drop off the smaller you get. I didn't drop a size until I dropped 30 lbs but now I go down a size with every 10 lbs I lose. Hang in there, it will definately happen for you. You're doing great.

I'm still in the same clothes (although they are not as snug) and I've lost a little over 50 pounds. I guess its where you lose the weight and how much of it you have to lose.

Don't worry it will happen soon. I know it seems like it was overnight for me. I went to the store with my hubby and didn't want to buy any pants cause I was afraid I would still be a size 22 since I had been wearing them since surgery no belt needed but they were loose. He brought me a size 16 capris and I was shocked that they fit! Now I can't stop shopping. I <3 my sleeve, but my pocket book doesn't lol!

@ olivera207. That's a good amount of weight since u are still on the mushy stage. I think about 5 weeks out when I coulf eat my protein, never could do the shakes afgert surgery, I saw a bigger loss. Except of course with aunt flow visits (which is all crazy after surgery) that's the most frustrating as I will not lose at all and have even gain a pound or two.

I had (and am still having) this same experience. I've lost 70 pounds and most of my clothes are still only one size smaller. I have some things that are two sizes, but mostly I'm still only down one size. Partly I think my issue is that my real size was one size bigger than what I was wearing, and the other part is that I've lost a lot in my face, boobs, thighs, and butt (and LOVE that), but my belly is trying to hold onto it longer.
