Say hi, lets stay connected and keep up the good work on pre op diet.
Hi there... my surgery is April 16th with Dr. Ortiz. I've been pre-oping for about 3 weeks now.. I started early (my choice) due to me trying to drop 15 lbs before surgery. I'm 5'10 and start weight was 332. I am now sitting at 321 and will move to more of a liquid diet next week.. I've been mainly watching my carbs and the weight has slowly come off. I'm hoping I can drop to 315 by my surgery date. Will have to step up the exercise this week to make it. I've definitely been lax in that department. Would love to hear from any other sleevers!!!
All the best!
Emily
Hi Emily, I am due April 17, having it done in Mexico..Love your picture, we all have "such pretty faces" lol You are nice and tall, I am 5'6" and wish I was taller. Anyway we are coming down to the wire, good luck with your prep, surgery and recovery. Joanne
I'm being sleeved in the UK by Dr Pratik Sufi at the Whittington Hospital in north London on Tuesday 17 April 2012.
Go sleevies go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi GIna!! We share the same sleeve date!! Yay!!!
And yes Joanne... My entire life iIve heard the "you are so beautiful, you have such a pretty face, etc..." I was even a plus size model back in my early twenties.. Thank GOD I am tall.. My weight is pretty much spread out evenly and when I told folks how much I weighed they were shocked. Some of us just carry our weight well.. Still no excuse to be 330 lbs but I've always been proud of myself, have pretty high self esteem, etc... .. always fought the fight and usually won but now that I have gotten older I've picked up some more weight and I just need to get it under control. I don't have any other health issues so I am hoping that I can bounce back quick from the surgery. I'm a little fearful about losing too much.. Being bigger is all that I've ever known so I hope I don't develop identity issues... My best friend had lap band about 2 years ago and I have a pretty good support system... SO... I am anxious to get the party started!!!! LOL
Best of luck to us all!!!
Good luck everyone! This has been the best decision I have made. It gets better each day. I'm 2 months out and feel fantastic. Please know you are here for support and encouragement. Welcome to the family!
Hi Emily! You are so lucky to be tall. I'm only 5'1 and am started my pre-op diet at 207... way to much weight for a short girl, but many people are surprised to hear how much I weigh as well. I come from good German/Irish stock so I think I must carry it better than some...LOL. Ready to be back to my fighting weight of about 120-125 though as I'm turning 50 in June and I have a 10-year-old that I'm trying to keep up with! We're all going to do fantastic... I just know it!
Hey, everyone!! My date is the 16th with Dr. Rutledge. I'm really excited yet extremely nervous too. I've been big all my life and don't know anything else. I have a pretty good self-esteem, but I'm just scared on how I am going to handle things as a smaller me. I had to loose 15lbs before surgery and so far I've lost 23lbs. That just helped add to the excitement knowing I actually met one goal. I'm having issues with my arthritis though since I had to stop taking my meloxicam so I'm kinda cranky this past week. But I have to remember how blessed I am to be able to make this decision and move forward.
Count me in! .. My date is April 17th in Lexington, KY. I have been trying to watch my carbs - no more than 30g per day, but I have to admit that I have had quite a few 'cheat' meals! Today's lunch was the last one, and I will be good as gold from this point forward! I only have a 2 day liquid pre-op diet, so I'm happy about that! I really feel for the 2 weekers on the liquid only plans!
Aupton00, I also take arthritis medicine (Mobic), but just about every 3-4 days (not daily), and surgeon's office had said i could take it up to day before surgery, but my primary care Doctor told me to stop one week prior ... From what I understand, I probably won't be able to take it after surgery! (NSAID) That worries me...but, that is the only problem that I have, too.. No other co-morbidities like diabetes, etc... thank goodness!
Am anxious to follow everyone's progress!
congratulations and the best of luck to all of you!
Hi there...getting sleeved the 18th...MD told me I could do 7-10 days liquid since I am at 227, and have no health issues thus far. Wish me luck and good luck and blessings to you all! Oh one positive so far...never felt better in regards to taking vitamins...it has been so helpful.
I had my first headache today... was expecting it earlier in the week from the caffeine withdrawal, but no, it hit me up on Good Friday holiday! My usual go to is Excedrin (which is not allowed 2 weeks prior) or Advil (which is also not allowed right now) so I made myself a protein shake, followed it with a big glass of Crystal Light, and what do you know... my headache went away with no OTC meds!!! I'm wondering now if I'm just so used to popping a pill when actually my body just wants to be nourished or hydrated? Anyway, day 5 is almost over and I'm 10 days out...we are all getting SO close!!!
