I had one for my sleeve, none for my gallbladder surgery.

Nor me. Just bandaged me up and I've been good to go. The bandages come off by themselves and then I have steri slips that also come off. It's weird where I can see the incisions but most of them look okay. I'm still like, wow, I just had 80% of my stomach removed! And these tiny incisions are the only visible clue!


I've heard from a number of medical people that drains can cause further inflammation than not so more and more surgeons are not using them.

I had a drain for 6 days. I'm glad that they put one in. You wouldn't believe how much drainage comes out after surgery! Glad it came out instead of staying in me.

I apparently never had any stuff, or they did that in the OR, cuz my bandages are/were pretty clean.

take a safety pin to clip it to your clothes so that it doesn't dangle around.

I had one with Dr. Garcia, no need for a safety pin there they have a nightgown that has a hole that goes into a chest pocket that holds the little container.

I also had one. I did use a safety pin as well. In the shower I pinned it to a lanyard. Otherwise it just hangs there. Good luck with your surgery.

I had one that was removed the day i went home from the hospital. I have to agree, i'm glad it was there pulling the liquid out of me instead of it staying in!!
