The pre-op diet was the hardest part of the journey for me thus far. That being said, you have built-in motivation. You want the surgery to go well.. actually you want your surgeon to DO the surgery. Mine required a 10 pound weight loss and two weeks of a pre-op diet that included two meals of low carb, high protein shakes and one small meal consisting of 3-4 oz lean meat with 1 c. veggies. I was allowed a couple of small snacks like string cheese (which really helps with hunger) and I drank drank drank water. The water (and crystal light) really helped with hunger. I would encourage you to turn to water or other zero calorie drink before going to food. Also, broth can be a life saver, as can those little packets of cream of chicken soup that mix with hot water. You can do this!!!! Once you survive this part, it's much easier post-surgery.
btw.. on my two week pre-op I lost 14 pounds. If I could do that, you definitely can!
