Default More weight loss with no protein shakes?

OK, so the last 2 weeks or maybe 3....I haven't done the protein shakes. I'm just so tired of them, I have done all the variations and add ins and all that....blah! I was worried my weight loss would stop or that I would lose more hair, etc.....but I'm losing MORE weight? I originally figured I would just take a break from them for a few weeks and then get back on them and enjoy them again, but now that I'm losing 3-4 lbs a week idk. I feel good....weird! Now what I do do (hahhaa) is one day a week I only drink liquid and a protein shake...but just the one day a week, just want to make sure I keep up the control part of my eating. It really helps me for some reason. I make sure that everything I eat is a higher protein food...string cheese, chicken, tuna, some peanuts...I don't really eat junk food...I just think it's odd that I'm doing better without the shakes? Any thoughts?

My guess would be just mixing up your food intake. Your body gets used to eating certain foods and that becomes its norm. When you change things up, your body doesn't know what's going on. I would say that when your weight loss slows down again, start adding protein shakes again. Just my 2 cents.

What I've been told is that the protein shakes help you lose fat, instead of muscle, which is what would happen if a person just stopped eating (like straight out of surgery) when you can eat very little amounts of liquids. The weight loss is just healthier. Talk to your doctor or a nutritionist about it, I'm sure you're not the only one who's grown tired of the shakes.

What kind of shakes (or protein powder) are/were you using?

I haven't really done protein shakes since I was like 2wks out from surgery. I get all my protein basically from meat and cheese. I eat 3 meals and usually 2 small snacks. I usually hit 55 to 60 g of protein - I do eat Zone protein bars which have 14g of protein.

OK, I tend to think you may be right Peggy --- it probably is the changing things up. I do still get 60ish protein a day, before I was getting like 80-90 cause my hair started falling out and I was totally freaking out! Figured upping my protein would help...it's been about 6 weeks since that has started and the hair loss is slowing down...we shall see. I also wonder if I'm just taking in less calories without the shakes? That maybe the extra protein was unneccessary(sp) and just added calories over all. hmmmmm.... I do the shakes from worldaccordingtoeggface and then was just doing yogurt mixed with protein powder and water...really doesn't taste bad, just makes me feel yucky and I'm tired of them! LOL I think I will just sees what happens with weight loss and switch it up again if I notice it slowing down. Thanks!
