HELP! Something just popped and I'm freaked out!

Okay....I'm hoping someone on here can shed some light on this for me. I was just getting ready for bed and I bent over to pick something off of the floor. I was sitting on the edge of my bed. As I was bending, I felt a really big pop that hurt. Now, I'm not sure if everyone had these or not, but I had two indents (dimples) on my stomach where my surgeon said I had two big stitches that would eventually dissolve on their own. Since the pop, the dimples are gone. Should i just think that the stitch broke? I'm only 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery, is it too early for these to break? Am I in any danger? There is no additional pain right now, only when it popped. Anyone have a similar situation??

I am just 2 1/2 weeks also, but haven't experienced that....yet. I would think if you are not sick, no fever or nausea then you probably just popped a stitch. I will pray that you are ok. Hopefully someone will respond that has had a similar experience.

I haven't felt anything like that, but then again my caretaker won't let me do a darn thing. I'm lucky I get to feed myself . Like happy face said if you don't have a fever and there is no further pain I would assume that was ok. I will pray everything is ok as well, and let us know if anything happens.

It sounds like you popped the sutures. As long as you are not in pain, no nausea,vomiting, Have a good nights sleep and in the morning call your surgeons service just to double check and put your fears to rest.

Yeah, I have no experienced that, but I would still call to let them know it happened, just incase it wasnt ready to come out yet... just to be safe..

I had the same thing happen with my larger incision and the pain went away by the next day and I had no other signs or symptoms. I called my doctor and they said it happens and unless I notice swelling, drainage, or a rash forming things are fine. I think the rash meant infection as it would get red around the area and nothing ever happened.

i would call your doc when you can. i had popping but it was weird, i was telling my hubby to touch one of my incisions cuz i could feel a bump underneath of them and when he touched it it popped underneath the skin and the bump went away/ never had any pain or anything. so maybe you popped a stich or just popped one of what i had too.. just like a blood bubble i think they said underneath the skin

No worries- t was either sutures or a little seroma (fluid filled pocket) under your incision. If the sutures broke, they were ready. If it was a seroma, no big deal as it would've absorbed anyway. Welcome to the other side!
