    Default Insomnia, etc...

So, I have 2 days until my pre-op appointment withe the surgeon and anesthesia and the 2 week pre-op liquid diet will begin. I've been having trouble sleeping all week, and I'm walking around like a zombie. I think it's a combination of nerves and the back troubles that I have.

Knowing my liquid diet is coming, I've tried a few last things like the Pork Chop from Perry's Steakhouse-yum before the big change. Unfortunately, I haven't really been able to enjoy the food we've had, I do it more to just take my wife out to eat since she's buggin'. I think I've come to terms w/the challenge before me and in my mind food is now the enemy....now matter how good it smells or looks, lol.

    Default Re: Insomnia, etc...

I went through exactly the same thing.... insomnia and "last meals" with my mother. She called a few nights before the surgery and said where are we going tonight and what are we eating. I told her I wasn't interested in food... none of it tasted as good as it use to and I was ready for them to put me on liquids.

I know this sounds crazy because its easy to make jello but I preferred the thicker texture when I did liquids so I found buying the ready made was better tasting and more filling. You could also probably make the wiggler recipe and get the same results. I also found Walmart's Good Value brand chicken broth the best in taste. Stock up on both :-) I ate buckets of jello the first three days and then it became really easier on the liquid diet. Just be prepared for that first few days of wanting to eat and jello is legal for pre-op and makes your stomach feel its eaten something :-)

Good luck and congrats on your new journey!
