I have decided to have the Gastric Sleeve surgery and I am very interested in hearing about experiences from people who have had it. I know it is a fairly new procedure and I would appreciate any insight anyone is willing to share

My niece and I both had the sleeve done on May 18th 2011. She has lost 108lbs and I have lost 94lbs. Neither of us have had any problems. Hair loss was my biggest obstacle but I got thru it and remembered to push the protein and my vitamins and it helped alot. PROTEIN and WATER along with your Vitamins are your most important necessities.
I am so happy with the sleeve. I am 8 mos post op and can pretty much eat anything. I have become a bit gluten intolerant which is ok with me because I dont really miss the carbs all that much. I eat gluten free pastas, fresh vegetables and can eat any kind of meat I want for the protein.
I was 240 in March 2011 weighed 229 the day of surgery and this last week I weighed in at 146 From a size 20 to 7-8. I have an appointment for my 8 mos check with my Nutritionist tomorrow and cant wait to see how she thinks Im doing
Good luck on your journey and feel free to ask me anything...I have a face book page in my signature if you want to come check it out

It's the best thing I've ever done. I'm 8 weeks out 40lbs down & that's including a 3 week stall. I can eat most things without a problem just small amounts. I've not had any problems with heartburn, vomiting or pain. I feel really good & wished I'd done it years ago. What I've found the hardest is the not drinking & eating. Over here in the uk I wasn't recommended to take protein shakes like everyone in the US does
its the best thing that couldve happen. im amazed. ive done really great and im proud of myself. im one of the lucky ones that didnt really have any issues, except for i was in pain i think a lot longer than some on here because he said my stomach he removed was "larger" than what hes normally used to ? lol... i mean im telling you the first 2 weeks u may think holy crap what did i do to myself but REALLY once you get to that point u can pretty much eat anything ( and i mean anything by like u dont have to just to liquids) its so much better. i made the mistake of trying salt and vinegar chips and i need to stay away because remember this is a tool, it wont fix everything, it'll just give u a huge jump start. ive made my mistake and learned!!!!!!!!!
