Default I never thought I would struggle to remember to eat!

I used to LOVE food. And I am an awesome cook - probably why I gained so much weight when I was married....had someone to cook a lot for!

BUT, since the surgery - I forget to eat b/c I am never hungry and food as a whole is pretty unappealing to me.

Today after I went to the grocery store....at 5pm, I realized I hadn't eaten or drank anything all day

This surgery is a lot of work and sometimes I major FAIL at it..... Kicking my own butt to get back into the swing of eating....

Never thought this would be my issue! I thought I would not exercise and cheat with foods.... Instead I exercise (probably too much) and never eat!

My stomach is still pretty queasy....what did y'all eat when you were feeling like that?

Christy: Well, you know you need to eat, so I won't waste a lotta time on that. As far as what to eat when queasy, I like grits with a bit of melted butter and a shake of salt. Make it kinda liquidy with water, not milk. It goes down easy, is hot and tastes good: kinda like a cheat cuz its basically carbs, but one packet won't kill you.

Just be sure to get in some protein, too when you can. Take it easy.

I can't eat warm/mushy foods I can do the occational soup - but as a whole the food has to be cold and if it's dry, that's even better. Guess I'll be going out to buy shakes again.

You're not alone with forgetting to eat, food just doesn't taste the same to me and I don't ever really get hungry. Most of the time I remember I havent ate when I start shaking. I remember to drink my water and I drink my protein so that's no an issue, it's not getting enough cals. Most days I'm lucky to get 400, most of that's from my protein. Just don't think of food the same way anymore. when I am able to eat something I use to love and I try it, it just isn't good tasting anymore!

Made me laugh! There are days I just don't feel like eating either - so I have an app for that and when it beeps, I go take a bite of something so I can get the recommended nutritional needs met. Poor kids and hubby are 'starving' since I don't feel like cooking all that crap I used to cook!

My go to food when I don't feel like anything is cottage cheese since it's higher in protein, has some dairy, etc. Kind of a good all round food. I sometimes mix pudding into it or a dab of jam or some fruit like berries, etc. to give it some ooomph.

You're doing something right. You are 20lbs away from your goal weight and only 2.5 months out! It's amazing you have lost so much already. You are doing great. I would love to be 60lbs down in 2 more months. I have to get my exercise on. I love my oatmeal in the morning but you said no warm and mushy. So protein shakes would probably be a good way for you to go to get some vitamins in and of course the much needed protein.

I use to love cooking but lately it seems such a waste of time and energy to whip up a couple table spoon of anything!

The cooking thing gets better. I'm 4 1/2 months out and had the urge to cook the other day for the first time, had fun in the kitchen but made all meat based stuff so I wouldn't be tempted.

That nausea could be self perpetuating... if you don't eat/drink enough, you get nauseous, then you don't eat/drink because of that.....etc.
Nausea is a definite sing of dehydration in my experience, so get that water or whatever you can drink down!
Food for nausea if you don't like warm/hot... toughy... I'd say chobani yogurt. Find a flavor you can live with and even if you only got 3 of those down a day at least you'd be getting your protein/calcium, etc. Or some cheese. Chunks of cheese are easy to carry and you can nibble on the go. And btw, you are the first person I've seen who prefers dry foods! Most of us can't get them down....

Saltines. Tailor made for this purpose, but you HAVE to get your protein or your body will start to cannibalize itself by eating muscle instead of fat. Try chilled protein shakes or yogurt as Grace suggested.

Yeah, I have cottage cheese on standby in the fridge...grilled cheese is another good choice I like now (I can have bread after the surgery, it just has to be toasted) I just don't know if it would provide as much protein as the shakes/yogurt but you could alternate.

Ok, I'm not alone, I have seem to have lost the taste for hot foods, I prefer them cold, not even rm temp, just "cold", I have the issue of not eating, but because I know I need something, I put forth an effort, especially w/ the shakes and extra protein, still look at popscicles as my BFF. Good Luck

Yes and I always keep cottage cheese on standby, with a little sf preserves to enhance the flavor

Oh, I am pretty sure I am doing it alllll wrong I am buying more protein shakes today. I do get in my vitamins and usually my water since I drink it while working out.

Of course here it is 930 and I still haven't eaten or drank anything, but I know I have to, because I am exercising a lot today.

Mike - I am weird I guess :-P I can do crackers, dry cereal etc, but food UGH! Pasta is HORRIBLE. All meats are yucky. I LOVE vegatables though And fruits are pretty ok as well.

Off to the store I go...
