I may have asked this before, but has anyone had any experience with stem cell treatment as an alternative to orthepedic surgery?
Long story short, hurt my shoulder slipping on ice Christmas shopping and then made it worse at body pump class. After numerous cortisone shots the doctor is now recommending a complete shoulder replacement. Nothing is torn, but there are some partial tears. Lots of arthritis. I feel I would die being laid up for 6 months. (Just got my Ikon ski pass in the mail!!) Being active is what keeps off my weight. But after climbing mountains with my hiking sticks for a week, my shoulder really hurts. And we're planning on helping our son move this weekend. I guess I will clean with my left hand.
I had a friend who was told she needed a knee replacement, went the stem cell way, and is pain free. But that's only one example. Other friends call it "hocus pocus." It is not covered by insurance. But neither was my sleeve, and look where that got me! Healthy and regular sized.
Anyone done it? Advice?
