    Angry "Hog Hunting"...SERIOUSLY MEN?!?!

WARNING: This is about seriously hurtful things...

I have this gift of blending in with guys, but sometimes it's a curse as I hear things I wish I hadn't. I grew up with 2 older brothers & was in the Army, so when I say I get along with guys more often than girls, it's no joke or exaggeration. Normally I find the male banter hilarious & role with it easy as you please. But it wasn't until the other day that I realized how invisible I was. Maybe it's because, as so many people who know me say, "You carry your weight so well! I would have NEVER guessed you were THAT heavy!" Or maybe it's because my chest is so ridiculously big now it distracts from my more unacceptable curves...who knows. Well the other day a couple guys I was working with were joking about how men go out to find girls to hook up with. Trust me, not the offensive part. We're all adults, just a fact of life. Well one says, "Oh yeah in the Navy some guys said they'd go hog hunting. They said fat chicks always put out because they have low self esteem." Then they CRACKED UP laughing. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! Like I wasn't a "fat chick" right in front of them!!! I was crushed & couldn't even find words to respond because I had respect for the man who said it.

I think I immediately buried these hurt feelings to carry myself on throughout the day with these 2 idiots & then the rest of my time there at that clinical site. Just like every time someone blurts out destructive words without a second thought to the damage they do. These are the feelings we must face head on to recover from this condition. I can't wait to have this surgery & with the grace of God lose this weight, but I must accept it is partly to escape this image our society had apparently created. I refuse to be invisible. This is not how I want to live. However, I must learn to pay no heed to the words of such ignorant individuals. These people that are on such a lower thought process level that physical attributes of others defines how they choose to treat them. That is for the animal kingdom. I choose to be a human being & see people from the inside out. So people like him, who think their exterior is so beautiful that they can talk like that, I got bad news for you: YOU'RE ugly. From the inside out, you are the ugliest part of our society.

I was in wal-mart last saturday and some guy walked up, gave me a piece of paper with his name and number and said "Call me sometime." That was it, really! Like I was suppose to be flattered by that. It was what I call Curb Service. He said nothing else. He just starred into my eyes..... Ewwh!!
Yes, I agree, the invisible thing is there for sure....until someone like that comes along. I am reaady for those days to be gone.

Wow, this post definitely hits home for me. I grew up as a tom boy, athlete, the whole nine yards. ALL of my friends were guys and mainly still are. I've heard things that like FOREVER. I never had low self esteem regardless of my size, so I often didn't pay much attention. I did, however, LEARN a great deal from guys like that. I learned to NEVER let a guy take advantage of me, to never mess with a guy who just wanted me as one night of fun, and I learned to never let anyone else judge how I felt about myself. Hog-hunting is a new term that I have not heard before, but I've heard many others. And yes, you are absolutely right, it's people like that who are the ugliest in our society. Now, after you lose your weight and are even more FABULOUS you can flat turn them down and say it's because you don't have time for self-centered, disrespectful idiots like them!

I completely understand where you're coming from. I grew up with brothers. I worked as the equipment manager for the football and wrestling teams in high school. I current work in a mortgage company. Everything has been so male centered that I just am so used to dealing with men. It never ceases to amaze me how self centered some people can be. Personally, I know that my ex (who I broke up with just about a year ago) is on my list of those I will need to "accidentally" get in touch with in about 6 more months. He wanted me to gain weight while we were together. Said he "didn't get with anyone under 300" and wanted me to be the biggest he'd ever been with. The guy before him was just as much of a jerk. Listen ladies, we have a lot to offer...kindness, sincerity, generosity, sense of humor, intelligence, etc...if people can't see that we're good people even with our size, then it's their problem, not ours!

When you go to the Ticker tab just click on the box that says "Hide my exact weight" and it will change it to the amount of pounds you're trying to lose rather than your weight and goal weight.

Remind those that only think with their "tiny heads" that someday they too could have daughters who could come home crying, because some a$$hole broke their heart because he was out "hog hunting". It is sad to say that some women think so little of themselves that they will jump into bed with the first guy to show them interest, and it doesn't always have to do with weight. I have 2 girls, 20 and 9, and I stress things like that, always. I also have a 17yo son, and believe me, I have long talks with him as well.

I have my consultation June 12th. I'm going through the VA so it's going to be a drawn out process, but it'll get done. Can't complain about time when it's free right? Haha Can't wait to get my active life back though. I have really bad joint problems in my right leg & the weight has reached that catch 22 point where if I don't exercise I gain weight, but if I do I'll more than likely be limping for days. But now there's a light at the end of this painful tunnel though.

Though obviously disgusted by the comment, honestly what really hurt was that they said it in front of me, you know? I like to think it was because we were all friends by that point & they didn't see me that way, but no matter what it cut me to the core. Feeling invisible could be the worst feeling of all. :/
