  1. Re: For those who weighed 300 lbs or more before their sleeve....

If you re-read my posts since December, 2015, you'll see that I did "make my choice" which was to convert to a single-anastomosis duodenal switch. I had that done three weeks ago today.

    Recovery...
  2. Re: For those who weighed 300 lbs or more before their sleeve....

My shakes are supposed to be made with just 3-4 oz of water, so that is much more doable than 16 oz. But trying to get even that much down is a struggle. I switched to unflavored protein powder after...
  3. Re: For those who weighed 300 lbs or more before their sleeve....

    Update:

I asked about the sleeve dilating &, apparently, that is normal. It's what our stomachs are made to do. It's the upper portion of the sleeve that will dilate. A gastric sleeve procedure...
  4. Re: For those who weighed 300 lbs or more before their sleeve....

I haven't seen him since I've completed the pre-op tests. I'll ask him when I see him again & report back.
  5. Re: For those who weighed 300 lbs or more before their sleeve....

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to give an update of my last post. I did have the gastric sleeve done on 8-22-2013. My weight the day before surgery was 259, a loss of 44 pounds in 4...
  6. Re: Any Surgeon Recommendations near the Seattle area?

My surgeon is Myur Srikanth in Federal Way. He also has an office in Kirkland. I love him! Take a look at his web site, Weight Loss Surgery Seattle | Sleeves and Bariatric Surgeon | Dr. Srikanth.

Re: How much did you have to lose before surgery?

My doctor said he wanted me to lose 10% of my weight before surgery at my first consult on April 25. I really didn't think I could do it. From the time I left his office that day I was on a high...

    Re: Protein powder?

I like Now Sports unflavored whey isolate. Amazon.com & bodybuilding.com have the best prices. I use Torani, DaVinci or Walden Farms sugar-free syrups for flavor or add it to any liquid or yogurt.

    Re: How long?

Including the 3-month supervised diet required by Aetna & all of the testing, clearances, etc. & waiting for insurance approval, it was 16 weeks from my initial visit to surgery day. I could have had...

    Re: Pre-surgery diet?

I was expected to lose 10% of my weight before surgery, about 30 pounds. The guidelines were high protein, low carb, very similar to the Adkins diet I had done 40 years ago. Between that & the two...
  11. Re: I weigh less than my hubby!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

I've always weighed more than my husband. We're both about 5' 7" (him a hair more, me a hair less). When we got married 30+ years ago he was about 165 & I was about 255. He's now about 175 & I will...

Re: Unflavored Protien Powder - Canada

I use Now Sports unflavored whey isolate. I don't know if it's available in Canada, though. I got mine from Amazon.com but bodybuilding.com also has good prices. I believe that GNC & SuperSupplements...

Pureed foods after 4 weeks, starting week 5, & soft foods after 6 weeks, starting week 7. Finally, at week 9 (later this week for me!) I get to introduce regular, solid foods.

Re: pureed foods were you scared??

I didn't puree salmon or halibut but I did puree tuna & hard-boiled egg together in my Ninja processor. I also have a stick blender that purees well. I did puree refried beans & had to add some water...

    Re: Protein Supplement Questions

I like Now Sports unflavored whey isolate. I don't notice any flavor or odor at all. Depending on what I'm mixing it in I sometimes add a little water to the powder first then add it to the food. It...
  16. Re: So I am trying to figure out if I should buy a scale or not :/

I also have a Withings scale, the WS-30, & like how it syncs with an online account & my iPhone. Definitely track one scale. My weight at my surgeon's office is consistently 2 pounds more than the...

Re: Watch out or Mexican food!

Refried beans with cheese is one of my favorite foods. It's the last thing I had before my 2-week pre-op clear liquids & the first thing I had when I could finally have pureed foods after 4 weeks...

Re: 60 grams protein in one shake!!

Be aware that your tastes & tolerances may change after surgery. Pre-op I used the Body Fortress chocolate peanut butter & the vanilla whey isolate. The vanilla was tolerable, the CPB was good. When...
  19. Re: What is the largest pill you have swallowed after surgery?

The biggest ones I take are the calcium citrate tablets & fish oil capsules. I haven't had any problems swallowing any pills, but then I never have had a problem. I do take my time with them now...

Re: Very frustrated, but trying to keep positive!

Cutting out the GummiVite multivitamin & going back to the Costco/Kirkland Mature Multi may have helped break my stall. I've dropped 5 pounds in the last three days! Then again, it could just have...

Re: can anyone help with good pureed foods

  23. Re: Pureed food recipe suggestions & processor suggestions
