Hey Susie! Long time no chat! How are you? I REALLY hope you come to the monthly meeting one of these days. There is actually one tomorrow night! You should go...they are SO helpful!
  2. I am doing wonderful, thank you so much for asking. I like the drastic idea...I am wanting to do something crazy too, but not until I get to my goal weight. I love the dark hair on you with your complexion. Good thing is you can always get some blonde highlights put back in if you want. I cannot "weight" to hear how great you did on Friday after your appointment. Wait until your bra's and knickers starting getting looser, that's a hoot. Hope I used your British words correctly. I am going to try and upload a photo for my Avatar, I am so bad about those things. Anyways, I'll look forward to hearing from you soon about your progress.

Thanks Suzie, I just fancied doing something drastic! still getting used to being dark not blond!

Everything is going well, still no complications, still not been weighed yet my appt was cancelled till Friday. But I can feel a small difference in my work trousers.

    Hope you are doing well

    Fran xx
  4. Hi Anissa:
Your daughter is in high school, right? I bet you had a fun homecomign weekend then. I know...sometimes it feels like I am "bragging" but I am constantly amazed at how well things are going and how, dare I say "easy" it has been to transition into the different stages or phases. I feel so blessed NOT to have the complications or minor irritants that so many other folks have. I will look forward to seeing you then, at the November support group meeting.
    Take Care,
    Susie

Good Afternoon Susie! I did not realize my daughter's homecoming festivities were the same weekend as the walk so I did not end up going. Which was probably a blessing in disguise as I am just getting over a cold I go to see Dr. Peterson on November 9th. I often think the same thing as you with respect to the surgery because things seem so comfortable compared to some of the stories I read on here...haha I will be at the next support group meeting..I would love to meet you too! So let's make it a date!

Hi Susie! Just stopping by to say hello Hope all is well!
  7. Hi Fran! I am so glad you are doing well. You will be fine in another week or so, I guarantee it. I agree with you about the scale...I too am weighing in at my doctors office, and only really count that scale as "accurate". Enjoy this time you have at home and listen to your body, and get lot's of rest if you can. I am so happy for you and keep in touch.

Hi Suzie, I'm doing well aches getting less daily. I'm struggling getting through my liquids, but I will keep trying. Hope you are getting along ok too x I'm nearly on day 4 ! 1/2 way through my 1st week! Yay.

I don't own any scales at home & think I will wait till after Xmas to buy some. I can get weighed at my follow up appointments. I don't want to fall into the getting weighed every day trap, that only seems to drive us mad.

Empty Feeling?

by susieb on 10-04-2012 at 12:49 PM
Hi Everyone! I am currently 3 weeks post-op and still feel good, but I do have a question for everyone. Is it normal to feel empty or hunger pains/pangs? It seems I have that "feeling" quite often. I am eating the following on a daily basis and take plenty of time, I think to eat and chew:
6 oz. cottage cheese - breakfast (over course of 30-45 minutes)
3 oz. Tuna salad (pureed) w/ 1/4 slice avocado (mashed) lunch (30 minutes)
3 oz. Tuna or Chicken Salad, 2 spears

Post Op Day 6

by susieb on 09-18-2012 at 12:43 PM
WOW do I feel great. I have been home from the hospital since Friday 9/14, I was in about 2 short days!!! I took all the good advice I have received here and did what my doc and other staff told me to do. I teasingly said I didn't think they did anything to me, since I felt so good and that if I don't lose the weight, I'd be back to see them Pain has been minimal, just notice if I stretch the wrong way, etc... I have been on full liquid Stage 2 of my diet and have had no issues. My 2 week follow

A New Day.....

by susieb on 08-31-2012 at 10:33 AM
Good Morning All! I am on Day 3 of the pre-op liquid diet. Happy to say I have stuck to it completely. It is almost as if I have flipped a switch in my brain after having decided this is the path I am on. I have been trying to be mindful of every bite I put in my mouth and every ounce I drink, and to take plenty of time to eat my meals. I have been hungry, but nothing unmanageable. No headaches, nausea, or low energy. I am curious to see how the rest of this plays out. I also plan on beginning a

In the beginning.....

by susieb on 08-24-2012 at 04:13 PM
This is all so new to me...I have never done a "blog" entry before so here it goes. I received the news yesterday at my pre-op with my surgeon, Dr. Peterson, that my insurance had approved the surgery. What a momentous day in my life and still very surreal. I about hugged the benefit coordinator to pieces over that news! I will begin the pre-surgery liquid diet next week, and then will be sleeved on 9/12/12. This is all still unbelievable and dream-like to me. I have struggled the last
