May 7th – May 27th
I get to have a bit of change with my diet – Puree foods! I’m really looking forward to eating something other than soup. I’ve been thinking / dreaming of things I can eat – peanut butter, mashed vegetables, mashed potatoes, hummus, tuna fish, and oatmeal!
On the bank holiday Monday, I go with Tony to work because I’m going to meet up with my friend Christina. This will be the first time that I’ve really been out of the house since coming home from hospital.

I still feel like I could sleep for hours. But I need to get up and get back into a routine. That seems to be a challenge this week. Since I can’t drive (because of post-op rules you aren’t to drive for 6 weeks), I feel disconnected with the world. I feel much better today. And slept pretty well, and on my stomach.
The nurse who takes my blood in the morning came in around 7.45am. She doesn’t even knock on the door, just comes in and usually the door slams against the back wall too; so much for Florence Nightingale! I ask her what the purpose of taking my bloods every morning; to keep an eye on my liver and kidney levels.
I call Tony around 8am; he is just about to leave to come to the hospital.

Well, I’m feeling a bit better, not as tired as yesterday, but could still take plenty of naps.
Yvonne is looking after me again today. She changes the sheets on my bed and takes my blood pressure and all. The other nurse also comes in to take my bloods.
Professor McAnena comes in around 9am again, and says that I’m on target and everything is looking good. He asks if I feel hungry and I tell him no, and then I tell him about the text message from

I can tell the surgery happened because I have some pain in my abdomen area. I had some cramping in my stomach and side, so I used the morphine button. But that started to make me feel sick, so I called the nurse and she gave me an injection to help me not feel sick. I was able to take a nap after that.
The nurse brought me some cups of water, but really I just want some ice to suck on so that my mouth isn’t so dry. There isn’t any ice around, so it will have to
