I am starving today....and its my birthday...maybe just thinking of the food I would enjoy in previous bdays has me feeling this way but I need some reinforcement right now. 8 a.m......2 tbs low fat cream soup & 2 TBS greek yogurt (ate it all didn't feel full), noon protein shake & now 2:30 and eating egg....can you snack in between like s/f jello & broth? I guess I was under the assumption I would NEVER be hungry if I ate all three meals and feel a little dizzy getting up to quick so going to up my water intake..nervous that it didn't work for me? Ever feel that way....9 days post op and down 21.5#'s so far!

Thanks so much for the support & info. I am ending day #5 of my pre op liquid diet and so far so good...the 1st day I had hunger pains & took a nap..sleep cures EVERYTHING! Lol...but even had my daughters birthday party & dished up cake & ice cream and it didn't bother me and cooking for the kids doesn't bother me. My biggest fear is stretching out my new stomach later on..I mean everyone has to fear putting the weight back on as I have lost & regained so many times. I have lost 12.5# since my liquid diet & have been exercising 20 minutes a day...I do feel weak at times but so far so good..my stomach makes all kinds of noises but I don't feel hungry that much! I would love to lose another 100#'s so I hope to kick butt after my surgery & get back to exercising. I wanted to exercise every day on my liquid diet so when they weigh me tomorrow at my preop dr appt I will be WOW'ed by their scales...at least I hope! I am planning on wearing the same clothes to the appt so I have an accurate measure! lol I am on Nexium already so they told me to bring my medications that I would take there so I will have that on hand! LOL...they moved my surgery up to 7:30 a.m. from 8 so I am happy that I won't be so anxious half the day! I will update you when I can....I'm super nervous & excited! Thanks for the prayers I will need it!!!

Hello, Today I'm not doing so great lol. I have been on this diet for 9 days and today it is really effecting me. Not so much that I'm hungry but these protein shakes get nastier every day! I don't know if I can handle another one. I have having a really hard time getting them in, then keeping them down. I'm also exhausted. I'm also an emotional wreck. I'm starting to get a little nervous, and that on top of the fact that I am so tired equals totally random crying for no reason. Oh and the fact that I ate a hot dog this afternoon and last night instead of my protein drink I had one egg with a little cheese on it. I still lost weight but now I'm scared that the Dr. won't be able to do the surgery cuz my liver hasn't shrunk. I've done so goo before the past two days but I'm having a really hard time. Sorry to vent on you like that, I'm just having a hard day. Thank you for asking. How are things going for you so far post op. I've found that there are quite a few more people talking about how they regret their decision than I would like to see. That is kinda freakin me out a little bit.

Thanks for all the info...I need it. Today is day #1 on my preop liquid diet & just ONE week until my surgery...nerves & excitement & wondering IF I will have as great of success as some of the people on here. Do you think losing 5# a week is plausible? I was hoping I could do that as I have a summer vacation to go too in Michigan & want to feel & look my best. We bought bikes as we camp so we can ride around the campground & walk our dogs for exercise as last year I ate all I could as I was off my diet.....

I have acid reflux & on Nexium anyways for it...I have a question...do they serve you protein shakes in the hospital or just broth & jello? Did you exercise during your liquid diet? I am thinking of doing my 20 minute exercise DVD while on it to see how much I can lose before my surgery. What kind of low fat cream soups did you get for day 3 onward? I can only think of mushroom cream soup...lol...just wanted some suggestions on that. Thanks for listening & all the tips it helps a lot!!

Hello, the liquid diet isn't as bad as I thought. I think it is because I have put my game face on and I'm super focused on getting the surgery. It is crazy how much stomach isn't too terrible hungry, but my head wants to be eating everything. Thank you for the tip on the shakes. Thats where I'm having the hardest time. They are too yucky! I find myself acting like my son when he doesn't want to take cold medicine. Standing in the kitchen crying stomping my feet lol j/k. I have managed to choke them down since they are necessary. I have lost 9 lbs in 3 days so far. That's nuts. I know it will slow down once I've shed water weight. But Iknow for a fact I will meet my goal of 15 lbs lost on the liquid diet! One thing I did want to ask was, how bad are the Arixtra shots? To me it just seems to go against my nature to stab myself on purpose lol. I tend to avoid hurting myself. My mom had to give herself insulin shots at one time. So she is going to help me at first, thank goodness!

I am scheduled for surgery on Feb 29th with Dr Hoehn? Did you have your sugery at Heartland Speciality Surgical Center? That is where I am scheduled & just curious if you had it there your opinion of the place...getting very nervous! What did you do prior to surgery to prepare yourself for starting the liquid diet? Thanks so much!

Just do the best you can with protein (sounds like you're doing great!). I've read mix messages on here about hair loss. I remember really pushing the protein and still lost hair, I think it's more the trauma of the surgery. Whatever, it will grow back. I did buy some "Great Hair Day" by Joan Rivers to use when I was feeling self conscious about seeing my scalp, kinda brushed in on to fill in and it did work but I don't even bother now. Just style my hair differently and go from there. Keep going and enjoy the ride! Oh and if you're not, take measurements!! I did pictures and measurements every month.

33 pounds is fantastic! Just remember that they pulled your stomach out throught the hole so, eventually....soon, you'll feel completely normal. Heck, I forget about my new tummy a lot until I'm thinking about snacking before supper, I can't or I won't be able to eat. For protein, I did a lot of homemade protein shakes (vanilla with banana and strawberries) and then froze them. I ate on it all throughout the day as they thawed, kinda like ice cream. Just do your best, I remember it seeming impossible but slowly it won't be. You'll be amazed at how fast the weight drops off, you'll soon be at 15 lbs from goal too! BTW, is the waiting room just crazy nuts when you're in for your appointments? I take the late appointment (3:30) never see Dr. Hoehn and it still is a heck of a wait!

Thanks, Hollie! I'm 15 lbs away from the goal set by Dr. Hoehn. I love my sleeve. You are just a few weeks out I see, how are things going for you? Any issues?

Hi! Sorry it took so long to reply. How nice was that hospital? I wasn't quite ready to go home yet, but I could tell the nurses were. I'm recovering at home, but am doing great!

Hi! I was just trying to find some people who had the same surgeon I will be having. I have dr. Christopher Kowalski from KC Bariatrics. I am just starting my process. I missed the phone call to schedule my first appointment today and am really bummed! How fast was the process for you once you had your first appointment? How many appointments did you have? I'd love any info you can give me! I'm so curious! I am hoping to get in/sleeved sometime in March. Were you happy with Dr. Kowalski? Any issues?

Hi, Hollie... I had been doing quite well up until yesterday. I was doing well on my protien, walking, and was getting at least 32oz water in. Now, I can barely drink water, have no energy for walking, and am too low on my protien. I am not sure what is going on to be honest. It seems weird to go backward, and quite honestly frustrating. I hope you are doing well and are having continuing success!

Bye Bye Gallbladder

by Hollie on 04-13-2012 at 04:06 PM
When I had surgery I asked the doctor to take my gallbladder out while he was in there because I have family history of gallbladder problems and I know because of the higher grade of nutrition after surgery it can cause problems with the gallbladder. He looked at it and said it was fine well he really should have just taken the stupid thing because less than 3 months later I am waiting on him to call and give me the surgery date to have my gallbladder removed Now I will be having another surgery

It has been 2 months since surgery today and I could not be happier with the results so far as of yesterday I was down 52 lbs and 37 inches and got my first blood work back since the hospital and everything was great. My good cholesterol has improved, I am no longer anywhere close to being diabetic, and all of my vitamin levels are great. I feel great I am exercising every day I am only 30 lbs from my 2nd mini goal then only another 40 after that. I know that the weight loss is starting to slow

Dry skin

by Hollie on 03-28-2012 at 12:23 PM
Ok I knew there would be a dry skin problem before surgery and I have been doing everything in my power to get rid of it but now it has turned into eczema and it is on my face! I want to scratch my face off and of course this morning at the gym my face was in fire with every drop of sweat. Let's just pray this cream from the doctor works quickly.

Sweet Tea

by Hollie on 03-26-2012 at 08:33 PM
Who has added caffeine back into their diets? Not carbonated but tea or coffee? I just hit week 8 today and in all of my paper work it says to avoid caffeinated, decaffeinated, and carbonated until week 8 and then there is no warnings except for the carbonated which I am scared to drink anyway. I really want to be able to drink tea with splenda…that would make me so happy! I love sweet tea(made with splenda) and I miss it. I have tried to make it with decaffeinated tea but it is just not the
