Let me know how you get on with soft food. I have another week then progress to purée / thicker soups. Can't say I am missing food but am missing wine. And gin!

Hiya. Just to let you know that I am ok, back home and now at day 5 post op. I am managing 1.5 litres of water etc and about the same in what they call nutritious liquid. In the UK we stay liquid only for 2 weeks before a moving to thicker liquids, then purée then mashed food before real textured food so weeks to go yet! Feeling v positive at the moment. I am "sleeved" so far the main problem Ive had occasional sharp chest pains and ache on my back and shoulders, they have told me this is very normal and common, that it's the gas the doc put in my abdomen for the surgery, only had a lttle nausea once with the chest pain. I have been up and walking all the corridors on this floor. Other thing is my mouth and back of throat is so dry, they let me have ice chips only until I have my leak test in the morning. Advice I would give you is to load up on fluids the day before your surgery, my doc has you on clear liquids the day before, but then you have to drink a bottle of Mag Citrate and it really pulls the fluid out of your body. Hope I stay on a good path here. Thank you for checking on me.
