Hi there my surgeon was Dr Andrew Averbach of St Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. He prescribed me Previcid and Urso (Ursodiol) for the first 6 months post surgery. I never experienced any heart burn or acid reflux as a result. You may want to mention it to your surgeon or follow up with Dr Averbach directly. I wish you the best. Thank you for stopping through.

I'm great... Been having stalls; that sends emotions through the roof. I was hoping to be 20 pounds lighter. My loss is good. Seems like I stay hungry...lol. Hope your reflux ends.

Hi friend... How are you doing?

Hey I'm doing great. I've got to eat a little slower. I have a tendency to over eat by a few bits and feel terrible for about an hour. I never had the nausea thing going on. I did feel better as I advanced my food. Actually I went to soft solid foods early for that reason. Hang in there it gets better.

The bariatric surgeon determined I should have the sleeve. I figured since he was a doctor he knew more about what was best for my weight and current health problems, which was high blood pressure. It's not an easy decision. I've not had any doubts about my decision but the smaller stomach does change everything you knew about eating. In the beginning every meal has to be planned, no last minute I'll just grab something. I've not had any issues with throwing up or anything. I do use food scales and measuring cups. I don't eat anything without knowing how many ounces it is. If I eat out, I'll eat a few bites and get the rest to go. If I eat to fast it feels uncomfortable like something is mashing down on my chest. I've only done it once or twice because it feels so uncomfortable. I usually walk and the feeling goes away in 20 - 30 minutes. Ask your doctor as many questions as you can think of. I went to my appointments with a pad and pen because I wanted to make sure I understood what was going to happen. Good luck and just pray about your decision.

Hello Jonsey14, I was nervous because I knew there was no going back and I thought what if I can't live with the restrictions, what if I'm sick, what if I have complications. I finally just prayed that I was making the right decision. For every reason I told myself I shouldn't have the surgery I had a reason for why I should. I knew that without the surgery to help me keep the weight off eventually I could have every health related illness associated with being heavy. I didn't want to be where I could barely get around. I was concerned about becoming a diabetic (my dad was one). I know with diabetes comes possible kidney failure, poor circulation, blindness. I have a cousin who has all of that. Weight also can cause problems with your heart. I talked to both my bariatric surgeon and my primary care physician about issues weight can cause. Between the three of us after some prayer on my part I decided to have the surgery.

Pushing thru for Change--BUT

by jonsey14 on 04-17-2015 at 09:29 AM
Good Day, I'm now 11 days post op and can I say... I hate this! This has been the hardest thing to do, starting with the liquid diet pre-op up toll now. It has been very challenging around my family not being ably to eat but watching them eat constantly. Almost as if they have been eating more just because I can't eat!

Yesterday, I decided enough! I'm going to eat something, so I started looking thru notes to see what I could eat. I got some mash potatoes, blank beans, a roasted

by jonsey14 on 04-03-2015 at 06:14 PM
Hello all-wanted to wish my fellow surgery day sleevers(April 6th) the very best to you all. Monday will be here before you know it,so I'm sending my well wishes today while I'm in a good mood. Not sure what mood I'll be in come Sunday, my thought is the weekend will be very hard to get through verses going to work, Being at work allows you to forget about being hungry or those withdrawal headaches! Geez....anyways I degrees, Thumbs up to those who went thru the pre-op diet with little or no

Alrighty!

by jonsey14 on 03-03-2015 at 07:59 PM
So got the call today(big grin on face)! I'm approved for surgery and choose the date of April 6th. That will give me time to get myself together mentally and physically. I don't even know where to start, the best news I've had in awhile.

At the same time got another call from insurance company denying me for life insurance because of my weight, REALLY! How crazy, but guess what I'll never have to deal with this problem ever again after April. HOORAY! YAY!

The Waiting Game....has begun

by jonsey14 on 02-17-2015 at 06:15 PM
Well, had my last test done yesterday; chest X-ray, blood work and meet with nutrisionist. My doctor's office will be submitting my paperwork for approval hopefully they did it yesterday I'm so excited but nervous at the same token, I've asked for a surgery date of April 6th. My original date was February but then lost my job/insurance and had to wait. So keep your fingers crossed for me, I'm ready to join all the cool sleevers on the other side YAAY ME! Fingers crossed
