I am new to the site but have read many posts which I found informative and helpful. My journey began in July with the insurance approval process and all of the other requirements. I initially chose the band but after much research changed to the sleeve. All went well and pretty smooth until a week before surgery (initial surgery date was August 28th). I was sent for lab work the week before. When the results were sent to my doctor, the lab stated that there was not enough of a sample to complete all labs requested. The most important one being tested for H pylori. I went back the next day for another draw. When the lab results were requested, the lab stated they lost the samples! After a third attempt, the results came back the day before surgery, positive for H pylori, surgery canceled, EGD scheduled for the following day to rule out ulcers, then placed on a regimen of antibiotics and PPIs for 2 weeks, repeat pre-op diet for 2 weeks, surgery now scheduled for Sept. 25th.
