no I was told that I can't eat no meats, just raw veggies, no sugar, mainly liquids throughout the day and 4/5 protein shakes. For the next 7 days.
  2. Thank you Jacqui. I just had my drain removed. Dr. Sanchez came to the hotel and did it. Cute and smooth. I loved Dr. Osuna. I have had no pain and minimal Gas!

    Hi there -

I was never HUGE on drinking/eating or really drinking liquids in general. It's hard for me to get my water in and honestly I really only drink 2-4 cups a day if I'm lucky. I remember about 2 weeks after surgery, I was drinking out of a water bottle and my husband grabbed it and started chugging it and this sadness came over me and I thought I'm never going to be able to do that again. But now, I CHUG water all the time! I can only do about a cup and then stop but I can definitely chug when I'm really thirsty.

My hospital stay was easy, 2-3 days. I was nauseous a lot after surgery and threw up a few times right after surgery. Post-op I have NEVER thrown up from eating too much. For some reason I always paid attention and knew my limit. I have had 2 super close times because my "fullness" caught up with me too quick, which is wh my food I can't tolerate is pasta!

My exercise of choice is cardio - specifically elliptical - usually 30mins 5-6 days a week. I was super strict on my regimen and think that is why I lost fairly quickly and stayed on track with cal/protein counting. I started to run once my weight was down to where running was a little easier. I lost about 18lbs my first month, and averaged about 13 each month there after. I lost 85lbs in 6 months and now at 1 year I'm almost at 120lb loss, wanting to still lose about 15 more. I plan to start weights since cardio doesn't do much for me at this point being so close to goal.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Jacqi,
I've just joined that site, it's terrific, yr my first friend lol
I only know one person that has had this surgery, and not very well. So this is a great help.
    Thanks for befriending me xx
Looks like ime 3 days before you.
Funny in Australia they put the day, then month, then year when date is written. Bit confusing lol

    Hi Jacqui!
I don't mind the questions at all. Sipping is definitely something you will need to practice and get in the habit of doing. It was not difficult for me as I have always been a sipper. At first post op it will take you 15 Mn to drink one ounce. If you don't drink slowly it hurts big time!

I was in the hospital 2 nites. I never threw up, but had tons of nausea and a horrid headache. I generally am not one to throw up though! My doc had a scopolamine patch for behind the ear to help with nausea, plus IV meds.

I am remiss in exercise. When I do, I walk. I need to improve in that area.

When I went to my 1 week post op appt I was up 18lb...very discouraging. I knew it was water wt, so ignored it and did not weigh at home. I think the first month I lost 18lb you can check my stats on my sing line for specifics) I am not a fast loser, but don't let that get me down. I know it will happen and am already so pleased with my results. Slow and steady wins the race.

In the big picture, I have bigger fish to fry. I have breast cancer and surgery coming up April 8th, a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. My main focus is staying healthy.

My Journey: You're not welcome here!

by jacquidaniels on 04-15-2014 at 10:42 AM
I really need to get out of my head. I have no idea where this is coming from, but I'm feel more like laying in bed than moving my butt. It's been 8 Days since surgery. I expected to feel better by now. On the whole, I do feel pretty good. No real pains. The problem is I was kicking butt with work outs before surgery and now I don't even have the motivation to get up and even walk. I'm so disappointed with myself right now.

It's like the fat Jacqui mind set is pulling at this new

Question: help please!

by jacquidaniels on 04-12-2014 at 04:08 PM
I may be over thinking things, but you know how at the hospital they give you a incentive spirometer, or voldyne and tell you to use it 10 times every hour. I started doing this the first day after surgery, but then I thought, "This is basically a giant straw!" So my question to you all, to use, or not to use? Thanks!

My Journey: Just keep sipping!

by jacquidaniels on 04-11-2014 at 09:28 PM
My loving husband has taken over, right where the doctor and nurses left off ever since we left the hospital on Wednesday. He checks my bp, passes out my meds, makes my protein shakes, makes sure I'm up and walking, but especially loves to say, "Just keep sipping." Yes, I'm very lucky, I know this.

Truthfully though, I am having a really hard time trying to get in my water and I have no desire to eat. Nothing sounds or tastes good. I walked some today, but then I was exhausted

My journey: This too shall pass, I hope.

by jacquidaniels on 04-10-2014 at 08:00 PM
Monday was surgery day. That night I began to wonder what I had gotten myself into? I felt nauseated, and in pain, but I knew that would happen. My blood pressure spiked to 238/100+ something which was very unusual for me. The dr. gave me 2 rounds of nitro pills and a nitro patch which helped bring it down some. By Wednesday, my bp was stabilized and I was able to go home. Finally getting to sleep in my own bed last night was Heavenly. I'm feeling better every day. I just look forward to the day
