I asked about the drain tube because I have a co-worker and when I went to the dr. 2 weeks ago, there was a lady who had just had her surgery and she also had the drainage tube still in. When I asked her for how long she said it had to stay for a month. Another lady in the lobby who had her done 5 years ago also stated that she had it in for a month. I hope he doesn't keep it in me because I can't imagine coming to work with that in still. lol

I don't have my gall bladder anymore, had it removed 20 years ago. When he told me he wanted to do the GP and because of my acid reflux I have been taking my meds and staying away from the food that caused my reflux and haven't had it in a month! I'm hoping when I tell him this he'll be ok with doing the sleeve. If not, I will have to look for another doctor. I don't have peace about doing the GP at all. I also have been taking my vitamins including an extra dose of D because I'm usually low in that. I don't want there to be a delay in the surgery because of my blood work.
As per the loose skin...the way i've been thinking of it is that I've been so unhappy with the way I feel and look right now that I really don't care what hangs! lol Although if I could afford surgery to snip it all up I would.
I have two sons who are really worried about my health. They are 18 and 25 and both so healthy and active (unlike me) I think they have taken on this way of life because they have seen how I feel and I've clearly told them not to make the mistakes I have done. Thank God they have not become what I have.
I have been successful in my life in all ways except for this darn weight issue. It's made me feel like there something wrong with me. I now know that its a metabolic reason but I want to kick myself for waiting this long.

It's really nice to hear your experience because I've read such horror stories I was truly scared. I've had acid reflux but I have a hiatal hernia so I'm hoping that after he repairs it that'll go away. He wants to do a gastric bypass because of my reflux but I can't get pass the malabsorption issues that it prevents.

How have you dealt with loose skin...meaning in your mind. I also struggle with that because I'm married and although I'm fat (honestly) I feel (mentally) that I've gotten used to this body and how will I deal with loose skin. I want to start lifting weights because I've heard that may help somewhat. It's one of those things that I think of often.

Thanks for getting back to me. Congratulations on such an accomplishment. I hope to have my surgery in the middle of December. I can't imagine what I'll look like next June as I've been overweight so long it's unimaginable but I'm so excited.

Did you have any acid reflux issues before or after surgery?
How was it having that drainage tube in for so long, that makes me nervous?

I need to know someone who is a little ahead of me and doing well! I will be ending my 9th week on Tuesday, and doing well but I have questions, and my dietician is hard to get in touch with. Do you recall what new foods that were safe and healthy you added after 2 months?
