  1. I am not going to lie, the first two days were rough. Although, for me it was the anesthesia and pain meds. I have Firbromyalgia and am tired all the time anyway. But after that, I was knocked out the day I came home. Haven't taken pain meds since I left the hosptial. My suggestion would be, get up and walk as soon as you are able. The gas is the worst part..which you may or may not have. I was up walking 1/2 hr after they brought me to my room and then, everytime they unhooked me to use the bathroom, I walked. You will be fine. As I have heard on this site, your taste buds change after surgery. So, don't buy too much of anything before, you may not like it after. Good luck, you will do great!

Good luck. I am SO jealous. I feel like I have been waiting forever. My insurance requires 7 months of pre-sugery time. I have an appointment on Monday to submit my information to the insurance.company & then I will have a date. It seems really long. I was more paitent waiting to give birth to my daughter than I am to get this surgery. I constantly have butterflies in my stomach. Lol.
Good luck tomorrow. My thoughts are with you. Plz let us know how it goes.

Sorry I fell off the radar. Was too busy being a Mommom. Glad you made your surgery commitment and am so happy for you. I highly suggest getting as many of the bariatric protein powdered drink mixes you can when in the hospital. They taste great, are easy to get down and are difficult to find. Best of luck to you. I'm down 36 lbs now and feel great.
  8. Thanks for the info. Good luck to you as well. Today is Day 2 of the pre op diet and I am starting to wonder what the heck I am doing.... Summer in SJ is the worst time to do this diet.... No cantelope, corn on the cob, peaches or watermelon for a while.. I know things will change on the other side and I am trying not to be a baby. Just that I have this darn sugar/carb withdrawl headache. Hope your feeling better soon!

The surgery was very quick . I was put into my room around 12:00 pm. I was sore and very nausea . I can't say that my pain never got above a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. The nausea was the worst part. I got up and started walking as soon as I could and did about 3 laps of the hospital floor an hour. Wednesday night around 8 I experienced dime dry heaving. This happened 4 times during the night then again in the morning before I was leaving. Dr. O came in around 9:30 and said as long as I keep up with fluids I could be released by 11. Felt bit better after I hot home into my own bed and could sleep . Still had a little bit of nausea last night but only dry heaved once. Sugar free Popsicles and water ice helped. Today I am trying to get down the Isopure protein but it is hard. Any questions please let me know and good luck!!!

Hi, I live in SJ as well and had my sleeve done by Atlanticares Bariatrics, Dr O. He is phenomenal and I'd do it all over again. I've lost 14 lbs and its been almost 2 weeks. If you want any info, let me know. They have support meetings that ate really informative twice per month.

    Good luck!

Onederland it is!! Happy Thanksgiving.....

by Ladyinwaiting on 11-26-2013 at 09:24 AM
It is surreal to me, to leave the 200's behind and not be afraid of regaining all my weight. It's been a great journey so far and today, I have met one of my big goals... 199.6. It has gone by quickly and my relationship with food continues to change everyday. Biggest lesson learned, food is for fuel. Listen to your body and learn what it is saying. Understand when you are thirsty or really hungry, pay attention. Congrats to all of you for making this step, your turn will be coming soon!

Not looking for Absolution,,,, but

by Ladyinwaiting on 11-07-2013 at 06:29 AM
I have to admit. I pigged out on Halloween candy. Unfortunately, I did not gain weight. I say that because, if I had, I probably would have stopped sooner. I did however, make my stomach miserable. Now, everything I eat sits wrong. I am back to soft foods and limited diet. Sigh. Just needed to confess my sins. I am now down a few more lbs and looking forward to Onederland...

NSV - Victorias Secrets

by Ladyinwaiting on 11-02-2013 at 08:15 PM
I am 51. I tell you that because when I was thin, way back when, there was no Victorias Secret. By the time there were, I was too heavy to fit into any clothes in them.
One time, a friend who was quite a bit heavier then I, were walking around the mall, laughing and having a great afternoon. We walked into V.S and the sales girl said "I am sorry ladies, we have nothing in your size." I kid you not. Well, the reason we went in was actually for the purfume! But it could have

As I sit here on the eve of my

by Ladyinwaiting on 10-31-2013 at 02:22 PM
3 month surgiversary.. I am looking at this 5 lb bag of candy hating life. Most of all, i am mad at myself. Not for the candy, but for letting myself get into this physical condition. 60 ish lbs down, i can't complain about my short journey. Even though the lbs are coming off slower, they are coming off.
The fact is, that I wouldn't be all that upset if I didn't go down to 150, because I am so happy that I have gotten this far down. Thanks for joining me on this sentimental journey...lol.
